Fine. I hope Boeing is gone in the next 5 years. Watch Seattle and Western Washington sink into oblivion.

"Seattle proper" has little to do with Sawant's election...it was a city wide election. Check out a map for the definition of eligible Seattle voters.

Funny, though...apparently Chiz's wealthy liberal friends want nothing to do with the average Seattle worker. They just voted to separate the voting districts in 2015..an effort almost entirely funded by one business woman.

Harmony and liberal tolerance only go so far.

Oh...I have been on I-5 in Seattle. I prefer Vancouver over Seattle though. But, I will be headed out to that area again for a kayaking adventure. Maybe I'll buy kalm a beer if he comes out of the hinterlands. :thumb:

Factoid time: my wife lived in Richland, WA. And she loves Starbucks.

Anyway, Halfwit, AZ is killing it in here (making you look silly, again) while Chiz is looking more and more like an out of touch, elitist Harvard grad (not that there's anything wrong with that).
King County population: 2 million. Seattle Population: 600,000. People in Tukwila, Renton, and Kirkland don't vote in Seattle elections, and Everett is in a different county.
I also don't see how the "best paid workers in Seattle" would have any real incentive to vote for someone who wants to increase the minimum wage to $15.00, when they're already making well above that. Assuming they actually live in the jurisdiction she was elected in, of course. :coffee:

Boeing employees here are resisting the Union. Trying to get a union in the South isn't easy. however, Boeing has been great for the economy here. It's really trickled down

Boeing would love to go all out in Charleston, but the workforce isn't up to speed yet. Everett had to pick up their substantial slack this year to make good on our deliveries.

Come on buddy. Our slack? The North Charleston plant was built from the ground up with an inexperienced workforce. The plant here is doing great and is proving that the job can be done without the unions. Mistakes happen but while you guys are bitching about pay, we're earning ours. Boeing has been making more and more investments here, we're building the 737MAX engine, home of an IT center, we're building a paint shop so that planes don't need to be flown to Texas for painting, The employees here don't hijack a company and demand pay raises and such just because they can. The unions are losing and eventually Boeing will pull out of Washington altogether.

but the cemetery is full of irreplaceable men (yet somehow the world kept moving forward)
It'll take Boeing years to pull out - but they've already started - and it will continue

and good luck to them... :coffee: and best wishes
It will take them decades to leave but I think we'll see Washington building less and less planes, especially as contracts come up for renewal, planes go end of line, etc...

Hijack a company? You do realize that Boeing has been seeing record profits, boosted its dividend by 50%, and is buying back $10 billion in stock, right? But yeah, how EVER will those poor executives and shareholders get by?

Excuse me, but when you have a job and are being paid a fair wage, I think it's shitty to strike and hold out b/c you feel entitled. I'd love to pitch a fit, and get a $10k bonus. :thumb: I think it's shitty that you renegotiate a contract and you demand things you aren't entitled to simply because you're unionized. Boeing has to make fiscal decisions that make sense for the company and if an employee doesn't agree, go somewhere else.

Boeing employees haven't been on strike since 2008. Big companies used to have a sense of responsiblitly to take care of their stakeholders, not just shareholders. I don't think it's unreasonable for workers who are loyal and add a lot of value to a company to expect said company to do more than the bare minimum for them. :twocents:

Probably coincided with the government "taking care" of more things for us. See Wal Marts business model for an example of how to let the government make up the difference in benefits, health coverage, etc. Why should companies supply something the government already provides?

There was a hit Asian women reference earlier in the thread. Unfortunately this thread has since digressed from that topic.

I have a buddy there and he said it mostly just "spits" a little bit everyday. But according to him you can also go weeks without seeing the sun.

Pretty much. Headed there next weekend with my cousin, I suspect we'll manage to tear up the town, rain or shine.

Depends on your constitution and interests...
If you want to get a tan and lay by the pool then YES (75% of the year is crap)

BUT!

Mountain Biking is PREMIUM year round - in fact - the rain and continual cool 45 degree winters make Mountain Biking an excellent mud fest and extremely good riding (World Class actually)

If you Ski
You can Mountain bike on Saturday and Ski on Sunday (which is what I do)
Just hit Snoqualmie Pass (45 minutes from Seattle) and Ski all Day

it's 25 degrees up an Snoqualmie
and 45 degrees at Sea Level

This past Wednesday I Kayaked over to the River Otter Marshes on Lake Sammamish just north up the lake from where I live... it's a TRIP there at least 20 otters in the marsh there - and they are a blast - super friendly and very entertaining

I will NEVER leave the North West
and I've lived all over this country - and - love much of it... But the NW is the best for me

The employees have an opportunity to purchase stock in their company and invest in their futures. Instead, most people choose to purchase a big screen TV, mega cable packages, new phones, new cars, and eat expensive packaged foods.

And you want to blame things on the executives.

Are you proposing that no one commutes 5-10 miles to work? Is that why there is no traffic?

Or are you saying that 100,000 people who voted for a Socialist are the wealthy folks that, according to HalfWit, are the only people that can afford to live in Seattle proper?

Seattle is going to start having more problems. The recent vote regarding city council districts is going to result in some interesting politics. And, with Sawant & Co. demanding that big businesses and wealthy people pay more in taxes, it will be fun to watch the wealthy liberal Millenials realize that they are really nothing but Conks in disguise.

Odd that you would know what Limbaugh says (or not know and just use that old line as an attempt at humor).

Frankly, I wouldn't know, and wouldn't want to know, where to find a Limbaugh show.
