The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has a beef with Montana. A recent memo says Montana driver's licenses don't meet requirements of the federal REAL ID Act. And it could keep Montanans out of certain federal facilities and even off airplanes in 2016 if it's not resolved.

Bullock said the state will soon respond to Homeland Security to say Montana licenses are secure.

REAL ID is a bunch of horseshit. Attached to emergency Iraq war funding and Tsunami relief funding without any debate. Fucking over more than just Montana.

I think what's missing is the model and sn# of all the guns owned by the individual. They wanted to include that but it would expand the average drivers license from one card to at least 5. To big to fit in a wallet!

HELENA - Montana's Legislature voted unanimously back in 2007 to resist the federal REAL ID law, which sets standards for the issuing of drivers' licenses and state identification cards.

What's wrong with Montana licenses? A letter last month from Homeland Security outlines 25 regulations it says Montana doesn't meet.

Fine. Just let Montana be a "Petoria" (if you don't get the reference :ohno: )

This will get through...hopefully

MISSOULA - The president of the Montana Shooting Sports Association says the dispute over a state law allowing for local control of in-state firearms manufacture isn't going to vanish, even though the Supreme Court is refusing to hear an appeal in the case.

The Montana Shooting Sports Association has been wrestling with the Feds over the Firearms Freedom Act for several years. MSSA maintains the Commerce Act doesn't apply to guns that are manufactured and sold exclusively inside the state under the 2009 law.
