Yeah those blue collar peons smell bad. And they're rough on the scenery.

S.C. can have Boeing
It's all yours - and good luck - and be careful what you wish for

That depends on your definition of Socialism and the type of pension.

Socialism involves a partnership, to varying degrees, between the state and the people regarding the ownership (and benefits resulting from that ownership) and direction of the means of production. Those loose guidelines have never been nailed down, have they? In the end, Socialism is just another way of controlling and measuring people's ownership and return from production...not much different from our supposed "free market" capitalism that has business owners in bed with government. :thumb:

Regardless of one's definition of Socialism, Idiot Sawant, who received 100,000 votes, ran on a "Socialist" platform and is calling for a $15/hour wage for everyone. In stark contrast to a demand for better benefits and wages for Seattle's workers, at the same time, other Seattle voters gave up their wages, benefits, and pension (part of their benefits from the means of production) in order to preserve their job.

It seems as though Seattleites don't know what to do with themselves or their working conditions. One group wants to force companies to pay more, while another group is willing to vote away their benefits rather than have a company leave. :coffee:
Since you bring up geography, how many Everett, Tukwila, Renton, Redmond, Issaquah residents voted in the Seattle election?

Do workers around the SMA have to live where they work or are they allowed to commute between districts and towns? Wonder if the Socialist party will issue a directive that will force the granola eating, tax evading, liberal elitists to mingle with the backbone of America, hard-working, unwashed masses? :o

Hey, did anyone do a background check on Sawant to see if her family believes that some folks are "untouchables?"

Apparently, I know more about Seattle than you know about the Philadelphia area (and not-so-Philadelphia area), so we'll call it a narrow win for me. :thumb:

You've gotten your ass beaten worse than UD against Maine in this thread, and you're too full of yourself to admit it.

Tell us, Copernicus, how much sense would it make for a blue color Boeing wage slave to live in Seattle proper, where the cost of living is sky high, when they work in Renton or Everett? Have you seen rush hour traffic on I-5?

Better luck at not being such a snarky, know-it-all douchebag.

We really should seriously consider dividing as a country. I'd say maybe four separate nations. West. Midwest. South. Northeast.

Then each area could live like it wants without having the votes of people fromm the other areas in part controlling their lives.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

Those "blue color [sic] wage slaves" are some of the highest paid people in Seattle.

and frequently worked in the absolute sh!t-hole of an embarrassment known as Philadelphia
It can best be described as a travesty that should be burned to the ground
the residents should be ashamed of what they've created (frankly)

Boeing would love to go all out in Charleston, but the workforce isn't up to speed yet. Everett had to pick up their substantial slack this year to make good on our deliveries.

And it's a big state

Boeing is NOT a Millenial employer (period) Not even close
And it's not even in Seattle it's in Renton and Everett
That's like calling Allentown and Lancaster parts of Philadelphia

Only the NEWs says "Boeing and Seattle" in the same sentence

Secondly:
This is about the bustling and dynamic economy the 20 somethings have created in the Seattle
And the businesses they have largely shaped in their image (the ones I listed)

and

They VOTE
and are creating Seattle in their image by getting involved in the process

Feel free to comment on that
but "Boeing" is a completely different conversation and has NOTHING to do with this topic
Uhh...this topic was about Seattle electing a socialist city council member and a gay mayor...and hot Asian chicks. Subsequently, it involved, if you read kalm’s article and viewed your own video, trying to get support for $15/hour wages for everybody in Seattle…then the rest of the U.S.

That liberal/socialist, “for the workers/masses movement”, stands in stark contrast to the Boeing employees who just had to give up major concessions (hint for the slow readers: pensions were a big part of that surrender) to Old Uncle Boeing and their greedy executives. Of course, we’ll get back to greedy executives a bit later.

In the meantime, since you brought up geography, we’ll go with Boeing’s presence in “Seattle”, compared to the other companies you mentioned were in “Seattle.”

Boeing – production site in Renton. Distance from Renton to Seattle...12 miles.

Boeing also has workers in Tukwila…the airport. Distance from Tukwila to Seattle…11 miles.

Google – Kirkland. Distance to Seattle…14 miles.

Microsoft headquarters: Redmond. Distance to Seattle…15 miles.

Costco’s headquarters are located in Issaquah. Distance to Seattle…17 miles.

REI’s corporate offices are located in 6750 South 228th St. Kent, Washington which is 18 miles south of Seattle

Boeing…production site in Everett. Distance from Everett to Seattle...29 miles.

Oh, and the distance from Allentown to Philadelphia...61 miles. Distance from Lancaster to Philadelphia...65 miles.

Now that the geography topic has been covered, let’s get back to the thread’s topic.

We have Boeing’s Seattle area employees giving up major concessions to stay employed. In the meantime, “local” greedy Microsoft executives (those supposed left leaning folks who care about the masses) avoids 2.43 billion in taxes with loopholes and hiding assets overseas…just like the greedy Conks. Too funny.

Sawant and the VOTING socialists won’t be happy about that. As liberals usually find out, it is easier to ask someone else to pay more taxes...as they avoid those taxes themselves.

Remember, those young, healthy, upwardly mobile Millenials vote…and take action. If their putrid sign up rate for Obamacare is any indication, (and their avoidance of taxes), they really don't want to pay their fair share to help those less fortunate.

Sawant said she would not play special favors with the local big money businesses...and she stated that she wants to tax the wealthy even more. The 100,000 folks who voted for her seem to be sending a message that a conflict is coming.
They gave up a pension for a very hefty 401K, a 10K bonus and finally having to pay some money for health insurance. How much for insurance? By 2024, they will finally be paying what I was back in 2006.

They still are getting a GREAT deal.

Washington will just have to bend over and take it up the ass to get some OTHER company to move there and replace the lost revenue/jobs/sales taxes etc.

The most recent study indicates $70 BILLION in the last year for economic impact, over 26,000 jobs, $3.2 billion in wages paid (and spent, generating sales tax revenue)....yeah, I think that'd leave a mark if they left.

"Seattle proper" has little to do with Sawant's election...it was a city wide election. Check out a map for the definition of eligible Seattle voters.

Funny, though...apparently Chiz's wealthy liberal friends want nothing to do with the average Seattle worker. They just voted to separate the voting districts in 2015..an effort almost entirely funded by one business woman.

Harmony and liberal tolerance only go so far.

Oh...I have been on I-5 in Seattle. I prefer Vancouver over Seattle though. But, I will be headed out to that area again for a kayaking adventure. Maybe I'll buy kalm a beer if he comes out of the hinterlands. :thumb:

Factoid time: my wife lived in Richland, WA. And she loves Starbucks.

Anyway, Halfwit, AZ is killing it in here (making you look silly, again) while Chiz is looking more and more like an out of touch, elitist Harvard grad (not that there's anything wrong with that).

King County population: 2 million. Seattle Population: 600,000. People in Tukwila, Renton, and Kirkland don't vote in Seattle elections, and Everett is in a different county.
