Is this the start of the end for "fracking"?

Absolutely! And just look at all the jobs that will still need to happen because of fracking after the oil runs out.....Hazardous waist reclamation, lawyers, hazardous waist medical effect research, lawyers, more doctors, lawyers, undertakers, lawyers......

I can see the commercial now. "If you or anyone you know has had a hip replacement or been within 100 miles of a frack oil or natural gas well please call 1-800-FRACKING-LAWYERS now! We are only interested in what we have coming to us....

I did not see anything in that article to indicate that there is even a single case in which it's known that oil and/or gas drilling activity caused pollution of water in private wells. The fact that pollution is alleged or even found does not mean the problem was caused by oil and/or gas drilling.

There's an interesting pair of statements in the article that I think go well together. The first is this:
Texas provided the most detail, while the other states provided only general outlines.
The second is this:
A Texas spreadsheet contains more than 2,000 complaints, and 62 of those allege possible well-water contamination from oil and gas activity, said Ramona Nye, a spokeswoman for the Railroad Commission of Texas, which oversees drilling. Texas regulators haven't confirmed a single case of drilling-related water-well contamination in the past 10 years, she said.
Underline added for emphasis.

The fact that you, for instance, have methane mixed with your water does not mean that oil and/or gas drilling caused that. It can be in well water with no oil and/or gas drilling activity around at all. Here's an example of a State information page on methane in well water:

Since it's related here's an article on how the "Gasland" flaming faucet thing was misleading:

http://energyindepth.org/national/the-c ... f-gasland/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The problem, though, is that two years before the release of Gasland, Colorado regulators had investigated that exact case, and determined hydraulic fracturing and oil and gas development had nothing to do with it. “There are no indications of oil & gas related impacts to water well,” according to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission report.

After Gasland was released, COGCC noted once again that the landowner’s water well “contained biogenic gas that was not related to oil and gas activity.”

Too bad you edited out the part about liberals be friggin' liars...
Energy in Depth (EID) is a pro-oil-and-gas drilling industry front group formed by the American Petroleum Institute, the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and dozens of additional industry organizations for the purpose of criticizing the documentary "Gaslands", their latest attempt being a documentary produced by a political attack ad agency for EID, the ironically titled "Truthland"[1] which was exposed as a gas industry infomercial[2] as soon as it was released. The domain for the website promoting the film —Truthlandmovie.com — is owned by gas driller Chesapeake Energy.[3]
EID consists of several interrelated fronts in several states, with ties to various PR firms, gas companies and political lobbyists, as detailed by Dory Hippauf in "The Gas Roots". [4

Funders

Energy in Depth is funded by the El Paso Corporation, XTO Energy, Occidental Petroleum, BP, Anadarko, Marathon, EnCana, Chevron, Talisman, Shell, API, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Halliburton, Schlumberger and the Ohio Oil and Gas Association.[15]

Agreed..
And I could care less if Texas or Louisiana or North Dakota (or whoever) pollute their own states and make their already ugly states more ugly

As long as they sell me gas for cheap

Meanwhile in my State we attempt to regulate and send them to Red States where they belong
Make their homes ugly and sell us fuel cheap (Thank you VERY MUCH)
