I dont see Public Safety doing this in 2014. If so, the Dept. must have big problems to still do this.
It still happens today on departments large and small, city and rural.

Reuben Greenberg himself told me to my face that whenever he had to put 3-4 recruits in an academy class, he always hired one female; the best one on paper, regardless of where she ranked overall. He said it was to keep the EEO people off his back. So yeah, they do have problems.... its called frivolous EEO complaints.
I know the EEO laws very well. IF you show that no females could past the PT test, you are good. But it had to be documented. The problem comes in when you get a bunch of good ole boys and the screw with the female or minority. Change their grades, give them a different test that the other apps.

I don't know but this reminds me of an experience I had as a young man. I applied to be a firefighter. It was back in 1976. This is how it worked:

Applicants took a standardized test. They were going to take five people. They took the top three scores, which were all White Males (including me), then took the highest scoring Black and the highest scoring female.

Then we had to go through physical tests. Stuff like carrying a weight up a ladder, running a mile and a half within a certain time, etc. They gave the female lower standards. She didn't have to carry as much weight up a ladder. She didn't have to run the mile and a half in as low a time. And she didn't have to do as many push ups, pull ups, etc.

But even so she couldn't do the pullups. They tried all kinds of crap to get her to make it but she couldn't make it.

That was 1976, and they take the Best Scores TODAY!

Yes because the good ol boys have nothing better to do than change scores and grades because... well just because... I'm not even going to bother with that one. It's right up there with the CIA creating crack cocaine to keep the black man down. Well, actually the crack one is much higher up, but the idea is the same.

And you are incorrect about EEO- it isnt the inability to pass the tests that the EEO people go after. It is the tests themselves. MANY police departments have had to drop certain parts of their physical tests because EEO lawyers have successfully argued that the specific tests have nothing to do with the physical rigors of the jobs themselves. At CPD, we got rid of the part wher you had to run up and down the stadium stairs at Stoney Field because how often do we run up and down stairs in police work? Apparently not much, according to some lawyer.

We also got rid of the dead man drag. Why? Because apparently we don't do that in police work, so it is unfair to ask a woman to actually do it in a test. Never mind that I did it a couple times in the line of duty.

When you stop assuming that these people deal in reality, then you will see how messed up it truly is.

When I was going through Training to be a Federal Probation Officer, There was a Male and Female score that hed to be meet during the PT portion of training. and yes several females and males were put out of the program because they could not meet the requried PT score. Plain and simple.

If you were anybody else, I would accuse you of pretending to miss the point.

Since it's you, I know you arent pretending.
