MSU Daly up for Hendricks award

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State senior Brad Daly was tapped as one of six finalists for the 2013 Hendricks Award, presented to college football’s top defensive end, on Thursday.

A 6-1, 240 lb senior from Helena, Daly currently leads all of NCAA Division I football with 14 sacks. His 1.2 per game is tied for the most in the FCS, and his 20.5 tackles-for-loss this season is tied for the most in the FCS.

“Brad had a fabulous season,” said Bobcat coach Rob Ash. “He was the unquestioned leader of our defense, not just because of his stats and awards but because of his consistency. He prepared and worked the same way from the beginning of spring drills last March to the last snap of his college career, and his production reflected that commitment.”

Daly was named Big Sky Defensive Co-Player of the Year last week, along with First Team All-Big Sky. He finished his career with 45.5 tackles-for-loss, tied for eighth in Bobcat history, and 34 sacks, the fourth-best total by a Bobcat.

The Hendricks Award is named after Ted Hendricks, who played for the Miami Hurricanes in college. He played in the NFL for 15 years for the Baltimore Colts, Green Bay Packers and Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.

Previous winners include Terrell Suggs, Chris Long and Jadeveon Clowney.

That's not what your...oh never mind. It is a pretty big deal, I don't think there have been many FCS players to even make the finals (Que the stat nerd to prove me wrong). It should make him the favorite to win the Buck this year...
