Bobcat Syndrome

Post by LDopaPDX »

...is an affliction affecting every university in the Big Sky Conference not named Eastern Washington or Montana. Highly contagious, symptoms tend to appear immediately after the Thanksgiving holidays. While paranoia and muscular atrophy have been reported, the primary response is release of the bowels during football games, expelling excrement down one's leg.

Named for the highly symptomatic Bobcats of Montana State, outbreak clusters have recently been reported in St. George, Utah and Flagstaff, Arizona.

How lame is it that the Eags and Griz AGAIN have to try and repair the damaged reputation of the conference? Damn, NAU looked awful. I mean, how can a 9-win team not even be able to throw and catch?

For SUU: I think they finally showed themselves to be what we thought they were, at least to some extent.

For NAU: Not a good performance, but missing Souers was a killer IMO. The DC had to pull double duty & I have no idea why their defense wasn't stacking the box on a lot of plays.

Remember, guys, according to power ratings as well as lines that were out both Big Sky teams that played today were underdogs. It's not a shock that they lost. Maybe a little bit of a surprise that they got handled the way they did. But not a shock that they lost.

BTW Montana got a much easier second round draw than Eastern Washington did. Both will be favored. But Eastern Washington will be in far greater jeopardy.

Today's games confirmed what most of us knew about NAU and SUU for most of the season. Both teams were too one-dimensional on offense to go very far in the playoffs.

They'd have gone a lot farther if they'd drawn any of Butler, Samford, Tennessee State, Sacred Heart, Fordham, Lafayette, SC State, Bethune Cookman, Coastal Carolina, etc., etc. There just are NO cupcakes in the playoffs from the Western conferences and we (as a conference) will always get matched up due to proximity.

There's a certain degree of truth here although we did open with Wagner last year and SEMO in 2010. Then again..SEMO was from the suddenly mighty OVC. :?

Kinda what we deal with out west. NDSU got SDSU in their opener last year, IIRC. Rarely are we going to get a MEAC or Patriot team out here, if ever. I was actually really surprised when we got Wagner last season.

Respectfully disagree. South Dakota State's Zenner will be a challenge to contain but their (SDSU's) defense isn't built to stop a passing attack. So I don't see any way SDSU can score enough points to keep up with E. Washington. On the other hand, Coastal Carolina looked like they have a very good offense. The game in Missoula should be far closer than the one in Cheney. Eastern Illinois & North Dakota State are the two who received an easy draw (as their top seeding should entail).

What happened to Souers?

Complications from back surgery earlier in the week... didn't make it to the game.
