Except UC Davis. Unless we dump Wright as QB we may struggle in the Idaho State game to get our only win. We have a potentially stellar back-up in Laughrea (transfer from Boise State) and if he played more than one quarter on Saturday we would have beaten South Dakota. The fans are all in agreement, just need to get the coaching staff to see the light. Our running game may be the best we've had in years and our defense is decent.

Sapper wrote:No my decision making was made on rational observation of the data. I don't think UM is going to win more than 6 games. Not with the scheduled that they have and the fact that other teams in the BSC have improved faster than UM has. Unless UM has found away to fix the worst pass defense in the BSC (according to last years stats) it is going to be ruff playing the best pass teams in the BSC. :twocents:
Alright, time for everyone to get in here and eat their crow. I'll start by quoting Sapper because he was particularly delusional. :coffee:

EWU rode the fact that virtually no-one could stop their receiving corps last year and that unbeatable advantage is gone (the newbies may be talented—I don't really know—but I don't see much chance they'll be like what we saw the last few years overnight). Eastern's running game has been quite weak since Jones left, and though it should probably be improved this year, I doubt it'll be good. I do like Adams, but most everything around him is questionable.
Is 2,000+ yards, at 172ypg and 5.0ypc good? ;)

Yeah, disagree. I think you are really underestimating the talent that has been recruited the past several years. But hey, that's what these pre-season threads are for.

Well, unless you have another Kaufmann waiting in the wings, there's inevitably going to be some sort of drop off from last season. Doesn't mean you'll be bad, but I don't see the same kind of comebacks like the UM and SHSU games happening.
Does Kupp/PSU comeback count? :D

Same can be said of UM and their 400 yards passing in a half. :coffee:
300, and that won't be happening again. :tothehand:

It was better than I thought, though defenses cheating pass most every play certainly helped.

Bring back starting QB to a team that returns 19 starters, no impact.

The quote thing left the original post off so here is the first.

I'll believe it when I see it. The return of Johnson won't be enough to make up for a lack of quality coaching and all the off the field distractions. And I take that bet.
