Re: NAU vs. SUU
NAU should be in either way, good shot at a seed if they win.
SUU is a coin flip at best if they lose, IMO. Especially if Montana rolls MSU (making SUU's best win look not-so-great).

Re: NAU vs. SUU
We just need to win, if we win this will completely negate and debate about wether we get in or not. Really the question is if we lose will we have a shot? Well from looking at it we will have had a win over ranked Montana State and an FBS win and on top of that, we have shut down repeatedly some of the more higher powered offenses' found in the Big Sky. Sitting at 8-4 I think we have a very good shot at getting in on the bubble if we we lose with the above resume, but we just need to win to silence the critics.

SUU could be a tough draw for whoever gets them assuming they make it in. Would this be SUU's first playoff appearance, or did you guys go when you were in the Great West?SUUTbird wrote:We just need to win, if we win this will completely negate and debate about wether we get in or not. So there is no scenario where NAU isn't in the playoffs? A blowout loss I think would take us out of the picture.Grizalltheway wrote:NAU is in regardless, for SUU it's win or go home.

Re: NAU vs. SUU
Yep. My squad is way overrated this year. Our offense is terrible and we are doin the whole 2 qb thing. Whiskey cant seem to make up his mind. We are to the point where our qbs are switching every other play. If it wasnt for our defense, I dont know where we would be this season. Really wish I could be there for this game. Last game I went to at SUU was a blast, spent some time hiking and flyfishing the area.BlackFalkin wrote:I agree, I think southern Utah gets it done at home against a suspect NAU.grizzaholic wrote:

Not a fan of the 2-QB thing either. In a loss, there's always that question of "well if so and so had played, we would have won". It worked to a certain extent last year for EWU, up to the point when it really mattered.jacksdude0109 wrote:Yep. My squad is way overrated this year. I hope you're right, but my gut feeling is that SUU has to win to make it, especially without the name recognition/playoff tradition of schools like EWU, MSU and Montana.BlackFalkin wrote:SUUTbird wrote:We just need to win, if we win this will completely negate and debate about wether we get in or not. Doubtful - too many other teams would be behind us.

I suspect Southern Utah needs to win to get in. NAU probably has an outside shot at a seed with a win, and is probably better than 50/50 to get in even with a loss. Still, if you're the Jacks, no reason to tempt fate.
Which two, NAU and Southern Utah? Or Southern Utah and Montana State?
No dice on the bet if it's NAU/SUU, but I'll make the wager if it's SUU/MSU.

With the rules just coming out if SUU and UM both get in the playoff they could play each other in the first round even though they are in the same conference since they didn't play in the conference schedule.

And we all know who would win that game.
Regardless of the suu NAU game both those teams are in. If msu wins this weekend 5 teams get in. Deal. Or no deal u tippy toeing bastard.LDopaPDX wrote:BlackFalkin wrote:

So... are we betting on whether or not Montana State makes it in? I'd bet no. At 7-5, they have no chance. They'd get in at 8-4, but they won't beat Montana.

Re: NAU vs. SUU: The Grand Canyon Cup
Winner is in. Loser sweats all of the prognostication through Sunday mid day. My gut says both teams get a bid but I also remember an 8-3 Lumberjacks team getting left home last year.jacksdude0109 wrote: Yep. My squad is way overrated this year. NAU's defense has been stellar this season. They have single handedly won a few games this year. The offense hasn't been able to consistently get on track. Having such a young offensive line may have something to do with it? Lingering injuries? Offense looked lethargic last weekend vs. UNC? Perhaps due to no "flow" with quarterbacks being interchanged throughout the game. I'll agree with jacksdude - I'm not a fan of the rotating qb thing. Southern Utah's defense isn't UNC or UND. Looking forward to seeing how NAU approaches this today. I don't see it working on the road vs. a defense like S. Utah but I also realize what my pay scale is at to arm-chair coach.
The game in Cedar City in two years is on my bucket list. I've always wanted to go hiking up there.
PS - A shout out to NAU's cross country team...ranked # 1 in the nation going into this morning's nationals in Terre Haute, Indiana. Possibly the Big Sky Conference's first ever non-football national championship. Go Jacks!

James Cowser just blocked an NAU field goal attempt and SUU picks up the rock and runs it back to the NAU 35... driving inside the redzone now....
