Can they take Allen off our hands? Surely, a one time great Valley coach can turn things around...

Not to be too personal but what are her ties to Grand Forks? Grew up there and family still there?
Yes.

Should NDSU give up a money game for UND or a Montana type game or a yearly patsie?
You would have not needed to give up anything this year. Both schools played 11 games in a 12 game season. But during regular years, ditch the DII or east coast FCS-in-name-only cupcake you guys have been scheduling in the past, and replace with a home and home with UND. Problem solved.

NDSU doesn't have the luxury of being in a conference with 7 cupcakes. Even though UND may be considered a cupcake this year, they will not always be that bad.

Who does get to play 7 cupcake conference games?

With 7 cupcake teams, you are going to end up 4 or 5 in conference play. The MVFC had 2 cupcakes as it turned out. One gave the Gophers a good run.

OK, that is just a patently false assumption.

a) Your conference has 10 teams. THe BSC has 13. By definition, there are going to be more "cupcakes".
b) in 8 conference games, Montana played exactly TWO that had < .500 conference records, and one of those (Portland State) gave Cal a run for their money. We have what I would call FOUR cupcakes (ISU, UNC, Weber, UND), and the Griz only got to play ONE of these in conference play.

Interesting. There may be more cupcakes in the Big Sky, but that is in large part because it's a larger conference. I see 3 cupcakes on EWU's schedule (DII Western Oregon, Weber State, and Idaho State)...maybe you could throw UND in there as well. Everyone else on that schedule will most likely finish at .500 or better.

Illinois State, South Dakota, Western Illinois, and Indiana State will all finish with below .500 records. Missouri State has losses to Northwestern State, Murray State, and Central Arkansas - yet they are the 3rd place team in the MVFC with a 5-7 record.

Look, you can look at computer rankings all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the Big Sky is deeper in its top 4 or 5 teams, with the really bad teams dragging the rest of the conference down. NDSU's ratings also have a lot to do with why the MVFC is ranked so highly. Illinois State, South Dakota, Western Illinois, and Indiana State are not good teams. Throw Missouri State in there as well.

You also act like everyone is playing those 4 or so cupcake teams every year, which is clearly not the case. On any given year, you're most likely only playing 2 of them...and they aren't always the same cupcakes, besides UNC and maybe ISU.

Cal's only win was over Portland St, while WIU was ahead of Minnesota (8-2) for nearly 3 quarters. I see Cal Poly lost to Yale, Montana St to SFA and the Griz barely escaped USD. Every team is playing 4-5 cupcakes this year, out of 7 in the Big Sky.

Not hard to have a .500 record in a league with 7 cupcakes. I see 5 conference teams the Griz played.

Whether or not Cap'n Cat is full of BS, Klieman is an ideal candidate for the job, both from North Dakota's perspective and from Klieman's perspective if he wishes to move up the coaching ladder.

Hear he's getting impatient to try it out as the boss. Two championships as DC has sparked his desire to move up. This WILL happen. UND has made contact, allegedly.
