Well, bought my tickets online for CSU vs Liberty. With a win, CSU will secure only it's 2nd Big South Conference championship in 12 years of conference play, and its first ever playoff berth. Its the biggest game in school history, in a season that has seen a handful of those games. And, the most fun season I've ever had watching the Bucs.
Just wanted to say congrats to all the teams in the Big South for a great season. Not gonna say anything bad about any other conferences or teams, of course. But, the Big South has been overshadowed, and had a lot of success this year in out of conference play. Also, the conference hasn't had any high profile scandal or controversy. No teams refusing to play. No teams fighting before games. No major criminal acts, coaches fighting or being dirty. Just good, solid, competitive football.
The great military environment at VMI. The feisty squad at Presbyterian. The GWU Bulldogs, which we just found out can beat you on any day and play very physical football. Liberty, who has probably the best gameday environment in the BSC and has been a powerful team for decades. And of course our rival Coastal, who in 10 years went from not existing to one of the best in the FCS. Its been great to be in this conference, with great teams, fans and coaches.
One final week for 2013 Big South play: Liberty @ CSU. CSU win takes it. CSU loss and CCU is in.
Congrats to all the Big South teams on a great season!

Well said bucs90. Good luck Saturday against the Flames. I have no dog in the game but would like to see 2 Big South teams in the playoffs. As an added bonus, if the Bucs win, then my own GWebb Bulldogs after a weird season with impressive wins and equally unimpressive losses with a Furman win over Wofford can at least say they beat both the SOCON and Big South Conference Champs. I have no prediction for our own game against PC only a hope that the Bulldog team that showed up at Furman, Wofford, Richmond and CSU shows up in Clinton.
Watch out for that big Liberty TE, he's a load down the middle seam.

Here, Here! It has been a great season for the Big South even with my Flames not exactly doing our part to close things out.
The new coaches in North Charleston & Boiling Springs made an immediate impact and earned a great deal of respect around the league. With the SoCon clearly waning and the CAA not what it was just a year ago, it certainly is timely to see the league's profile growing. And trading VMI for Monmouth next year doesn't hurt.
Now I am trying to figure out how I can get amped up for a 10 am kickoff from my living room here in Texas. Whose idea was it for a brunch game at Buc Field?

Re: Congrats to all the Big South teams on a great season!
I agree with you both.
Gardner-Webb should beat PC and finish off a nice season with some big wins. Beating Furman, Wofford, Richmond and the Big South champ in the same year is pretty damn good. Question though- is GWU going to play upstart Limestone College in the future? Seems a natural rival with it only being 30 minutes or so away.
And yes, Liberty is going to be very tough as always. We've only beaten the Flames twice ever. 2000 and 2005. I remember as a player when they had Stacey Nobles at running back, and it's been rough ever since haha! But, maybe we can cap off our amazing year with a big win over a team that has been so hard for us to compete with.
I too would love to see 2 BSC teams in. Best chance is for CSU to win the auto bid, and CCU to get at large. Don't think CSU would get an auto bid with 3 losses.

I think everyone agrees the Bucs either get the auto bid or watch the playoffs from home this year. If you guys lose to us, we would be in line front of you guys for any possible at large. And we would be very far back in the line ourselves.
Re: Congrats to all the Big South teams on a great season!
Yep. We played two D2 teams, and don't have name brand pull to get the benefit of the doubt like a team such as James Madison or Montana would (just example of name brand). Hell, not sure Liberty does although they should. You guys got shafted a few years back with that 10 win team you had that didn't get a bid.Sly Fox wrote:I think everyone agrees the Bucs either get the auto bid or watch the playoffs from home this year. But, Im just proud of CSU and the Big South in general. Although we have the worst facilities, CSU did found the Big South under former AD Howard Bagwell. So when CSU does well, or when the Big South does well, I'm proud!!
