Since spring football began at Southern, 37 days have passed.
The Jaguars have been through 14 practices, dozens of short film sessions, exams, spring break and enough sprains and bruises to keep Tylenol in business for a while.
The grand finale is only one day, albeit the last, in a prolonged mission.
With that in mind, does everyone place too much emphasis on the final spring scrimmage?
Probably not, Pete Richardson said. The coach, entering his 17th season at SU, welcomes a game-like finale. He’s seen too many players start to sparkle when they know a game is coming up. So, for his money, spring games are a good deal.
“I think, after so many practices, you should have some way to make an evaluation,” Richardson said. “I think you’ll get anywhere from 80 to 100 plays, and you’ll get an evaluation of the individuals that took part in it. We’ll see exactly how much those people will be able to make a contribution to your team in August.”

Re: Southern's Richardson ready to evaluate Jaguars
defense looked good, offense looked horrible. We'll know more in August.
