Over the past 20 years, that is probably the single biggest thing that kept CSU from being that 5-6ish team in 99-01 years, and that 7-9 win team from 05-07, to what it could be if it "turned the corner". Everyone knows facilities are the #1 draw for offensive line recruits. They don't get any glory. Facilities draw them in. And CSU's problem over the years always seems to be a true, quality offensive line and depth. The 65 scholarships fixed the depth problem that they had up to 2004. Now...the OL is pretty good, even without a great stadium and weightroom. Add those, with CSU's already decent tradition of having good skill players and defensive front 7 guys, and we could be on to something.
Facilities are a must but look again at the team. The offense is powerful b/c of Croghan, Reyes and that tall WR. The defense is a brick wall. After what I saw, that much is clear. CSU has a strategy and it works: Score early, take the lead and then play a game of time possession. Reyes is a Junior this year, btw.
Yep, you're right. CSU has had that in the past. A good QB, some great WR's and RB's, and a stout defense. When it was a 36 scholarship team up to 2004, the teams before that had to pray for no injuries, as they had some great starters, but less depth. The 2000/2001 teams both went 5-6, but both lost their starting QB for half the season (Jake Sills, Oklahoma starter who transferred after Bob Stoops came in), and their lack of depth killed them.

Now, they have depth. So when Malcolm Dixon went down, they had a capable backup. That's huge. And with new facilities, they'll start adding the same quality on the offensive line.

Glad Reyes is a junior, he's a stud. Croghan is a freshman, most of the defense is coming back, several OL are coming back. CSU is a young team, 2014 could be special.

You're right. Real special! I think most people who don't follow our team as closely as you, me, and BucDad think that this might be an older team dominated by many upperclassmen. Nothing could be further from the truth as you stated. It is a relatively young team and we are in GREAT position for next year.

Coach was excited about a recruit that signed yesterday. He tweeted that recruits are noticing what is going on at CSU because whoever this was signed with us.

We have two SEC games next year (Georgia and Vanderbilt) from what I've heard, but aside from that, we should be real good.
