Cal Poly chocked their season away; there is no argument from me on that. I'm simply saying that I don't see SUU or PSU (whom others have said could get in) as more worthy.

Southern Utah has 3 L's
Cal Poly has 5 L's
Southern Utah has a chance to get 8 wins this season
Cal Poly doesnt bc they already have 5 losses.
Southern Utah BLEWOUT its home cupcake OOC game
Cal Poly got dicked on by its home cupcake OOC game.
Cal Poly had a much tougher schedule playing 2 FBS teams, 2 OOC FCS teams, EWU, Montana & NAU, but you have to at least beat the cake teams on your schedule and Cal Poly lost 2 games they needed to win to be in this conversation. Yale & NAU or UM.

Pretty much agree...but I fail to see an At Large resume in SUUs season. I agree they will get to 8 wins and 4 loses.
Amongst the 8 wins will be a thumping of DII Fort Lewis at home.
Amongst their loses will be a 3-21 choke job at the hands of UC Davis.

Well thats different.. their resume isnt that great, but its good enough IN MY OPINION IF (and only if) THEY BEAT MONTANA STATE OR (more likely) NORTHERN ARIZONA. If they beat NAU they'll have a strong schedule, victory over an FBS, and victory over a ranked opponent (nau) and most important.... 8 wins.

3-8/1-3 Sun Belt South Alabama is "tough?!?"

That isn't exactly where I was going, but it's kinda weird when beating a school like South Alabama is enough to make people forget getting whacked by the Manure Pile.kalm wrote:Yeah. Re: CAA/BIG SKY- HOW MANY BIDS??
Alot of SUU hate on here I see (nothing new) however to say that Cal Poly gets in ahead of an SUU team that has 8 wins is somewhat of a fantasy. When looking at it SUU has ONE bad loss this season, when we dropped an egg against UC-Davis. Also our FBS win was against South Alabama, whose record does not show it, has been playing pretty solid and been in every game this season including a 1 touchdown loss to the SEC's Tennessee. Other then that though we have not scored alot of points we still have done the most important thing, which is WIN. And to point out a few things:
-Some of you have pointed out that we barely beat UNC and Weber State. The Bears nearly beat Montana State and Weber State beat SF Austin who blew out the Bobcats as well, with the logic being presented that means MSU is not a playoff caliber team. Also, Weber State scored a garbage touchdown with 2 seconds left, the score was a much more solid win for the T-Birds on the road in a rivalry game.
-Unlike every other Big Sky school we are the ONLY team to have held Portland and Idaho States prolific offense's to single digit points this season, including FBS opponent CAL). We are a defensive team this year and have been doing a damn good job of it, especially against the run. Just because we are not blowing up the scoreboard every game does not mean we are a weak team.
Now I can admit the Cal Poly had a slightly tougher schedule this season, that being said they are going through what SUU has had to go through the last 2 seasons in regards to a tough schedule, and we never got any breaks with our record and neither should they. If my T-Birds beat both MSU and NAU (a tall order but not impossible) we are definitely in. If we only win 1 of the next 2 games, we are on the bubble with a decent shot.

Love the back and forth here. Good arguments on both sides.
But, the next two weeks will tell. If Cal Poly beats EWU their argument continues. Lose- and even the most loyal fan stops posting about why they should get in.
SUU is up against it as I see it the next two weeks, but as SUU Tbird correctly points out, if they win their next two games they should get in. Don't think one win does it though.

You only see it as "hate" because you are an SUU fan. Every pre-season we hear how good SUU will be and then at the end of the year we hear how closely they played a bunch of teams. One day SUU will break through and actually make the playoffs. Who knows, could be this year, but I wouldnt' wager on it.SUUTbird wrote:Alot of SUU hate on here I see (nothing new)

Re: CAA/BIG SKY- HOW MANY BIDS??
Nobody has said that they think Cal Poly will get in. I've said that If (HUGE IF) Cal poly got to 7-5 they would be more deserving than and 8-4 SUU....and they would. In that scenario (Again unlikely) they would have a win against a top 5 EWU, played and all DI schedule, finished ahead of SUU in conference and finished on a 4 game win streakSUUTbird wrote:Alot of SUU hate on here I see (nothing new) however to say that Cal Poly gets in ahead of an SUU team that has 8 wins is somewhat of a fantasy. Conversely a 8-4 SUU would have a loss to UC Davis, a win against a DII Fort Lewis (e.g. it would have only counted as 7 wins just last year), would finish behind Cal Poly in conference and would have lost 2 of their last 3 games.
If SUU can win 2 of their last 3 they are in but at 8-4 their resume just doesn't cut it. By the way I don't hate SUU, they are a fellow former GWC team and I would be happy to see them make the playoffs. Frankly, I pull for all Big Sky teams as long as Cal Poly is not playing them.

Let's not forget they do play in the strongest FCS conference. I'm just sayin
Why would they have to beat both? What if they beat NAU and lost to highly ranked montana state? There has to be a spot for a team with 8 wins in the best FCS conference on earth.89Hen wrote:SUU would have to beat MSU and NAU. I don't see that happening.BlackFalkin wrote:
