Just sayin', NAU will have their chance to prove they're for real, regardless of where Jalmond ranks them in October. And then you can rub it in his face (no homo) if he turns out to be wrong. :thumb:

NAU might not fare as well as Montana in a run of games against the same teams (debatable), but they could play a series and I don't ever see Montana beating them. NAU just has the Griz' number right now, and their earlier game could have easily been won by a bigger margin.

It's sort of like Sam Houston State and Eastern; I'm not sure Eastern is necessarily worse if you compared their results against a schedule of identical teams, but head-to-head, Sam Houston State wins consistently. It's just a rotten style matchup for Eastern.

Agree to disagree....What percent of games have TWO fumble returns for TD's? 1%? 2%? That game wasn't as bad as the score indicated.

Was that one returned for a TD?

If not for NAU's incredible knack at getting non-offensive touchdowns, they might be 3-5 right now. :coffee:

I'm not overlooking it....but, the fact that one of ours turned out to be an immediate 14 point swing I'd say that cancels out your deep fumble. :coffee:

There's some truth to this statement. Their d had more touchdowns than their offense several games in.

NAU's defense has 6 TD's this year (including 5 in the first 3 games)...and ST has one (KR vs CP to win the game last week)...guess it's a good thing for NAU those points count just the same... :coffee:

NAU has a better conference record. And if there are equal teams, only a fool would ignore head to head. Why play the games if you ignore the results?

If the schools were reversed, no one would rate NAU above Montana. FACT.
You're getting all flustered and butthurt about some dude from Portland's OPINION on who the best teams in the conference are. Fact. :kisswink:
There haven't been many posts on either site that I've agreed with 100%. But I do agree with you 100% on this one.

How is that an excuse? I laugh at people who say "well, if we hadn't fumbled that ball in the end zone", or "if we hadn't given up that long kick return"...well too bad, so sad...those points count just the same as an offensive touchdown. I'm actually jealous that NAU's defense is so opportunistic. And it's a good thing, given that jekyl and hyde offense they have.

Still clueless

"Sports writer Fritz Neighbor of the Missoulian newspaper served as a "pool reporter" for the media and met with the games referee, Lenau after the game to ask him about his call on the safety when Nguyen stepped out of the back of the end zone, and he admitted he had made a mistake.

"The ruling on the field was that the receiver caught the ball in the end zone and carried it out of the back of the end zone (for a safety)," Lenau said. "That ruling, we have since learned, was incorrect. So  - we made a mistake. We apologize to the University of Montana."

Worst call in a football game I've ever seen

If that had been happened to a visiting team in WaGriz, we would NEVER hear the end of it

The cal poly fumble was probably the worst I have seen at least when the ump blew the call at second base against the Red Sox during the WS they were able to over turn the call

Agreed! The worst for the simple fact that it wasn't even a judgement call. The officials saw it plain as day but just didn't know the rule.

Agreed that the "fumble" was a bad call but at least that is a judgement call and it resulted in 0 points. The "safety" heard 'round the world wasn't a judgement call, the officials just didn't know the rule.
