Well, hats off to Eastern. They made enough plays to build a winning cushion, though they let the Griz get back in it by playing surprisingly scared & rattled in the fourth quarter.
Bottom line: Griz O-Line needs to sack up. They should be able to push virtually any FCS front off the ball and they haven't been able to do it for two straight weeks now. I think JJ making some bad reads on the read option may have contributed, but that was just a small part.

There were three occasions in the first half on the read option where, had he kept it, JJ could have walked into the end zone.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Well, hats off to Eastern. It takes some real guts to keep it on a read option, even when the end crashes... Guess JJ's not the man you thought he was.....

IN MY OPINION the griz choked away a win. I think the griz choke on the TD called back... choked again on the missed fg, and choked again by burning the t.o. on ewu's 4th down... ALWAYS KEEP THE T.O. FOR YOUR OFFENSE. Ewu ran out of gas and would have went 3 & out and gave it right back had the griz had a t.o. left. Mismanaged 4th by the griz coaching staf imo.

Congrats to EWU on their win today!
Vernon was as good as advertised, and fun to watch. But, the kid that impressed me the most was #10, Kupp! Dude was a fuckin' load all game, and played like he was 10' tall! Kalm told me he is from Yakima, but he plays like he's from Havre!
Best of luck against the Bobcats next week! That game should be a beauty!

That's completely wrong. A timeout is always worth more on defense than offense. The offense controls how much time runs off—a TO saves maybe 20 seconds at most on offense, it saves a full 40 seconds on defense. If you (assuming you're behind) aren't forced to use one on offense, you should save them all for the D.BlackFalkin wrote:IN MY OPINION the griz choked away a win. I was a little surprised UM used the first TO as early as they did, but I was also surprised EWU went to clock-only ball as early as they did.
Except more time would've run off earlier if they hadn't used a timeout then, so things would've been effectively the same.Ewu ran out of gas and would have went 3 & out and gave it right back had the griz had a t.o. left. Mismanaged 4th by the griz coaching staf imo.

Agreed. Not saying EWU would have lost, but if UM would have capitalized on their options the game would have been closer. EWU walked away with this win. UM licked wounds.BlackFalkin wrote:IN MY OPINION the griz choked away a win. Re: #3 EWU @ #10 Montana Game Thread
EWU should feel good about getting this win, but their team may need a little bit of a gut check too. They came very close to throwing away a game they effectively had in the bag.
Instead of the cockiness & confidence we saw from Eastern in the first 3 quarters, the 4th. quarter Eagles looked scared, rattled, & confused. They went conservative a bit early (particularly for a team isn't even vaguely a power running team), and they lost a bit of their edge when it came time to throw the ball again. Two bad drops plus a terrible decision by Adams on the INT were evidence of that.

Nah bro. If u only have one timeout left and u don't HAVE to use it to have a chance to get the ball back. AND UR DOWN TWO SCORES!!! U keep the timeout bro beans. Go back and think about she they called that timeout. It wasn't mandatory. It saved time EWU would have burned before the punt took place but when u have a timeout in your back pocket when ur on O you can be much more strategic and u can stop the clock if u get tackled in bounds or if qb gets sacked. The griz needed a lot of things to go their way at that point in the game BUT had the situation been managed more strategically and the kicker nailed the fg.... You might have a win right now.Mvemjsunpx wrote:That's completely wrong. A timeout is always worth more on defense than offense. It may not be easy. Playing in the Pocatello barn, you have to be prepared to play virtual arena ball. Plus throw in the fact that Kramer will want to stick it to EWU and the perceived difficulties Big Sky teams seem to have after the Griz game. Granted I would not bet against you, but I don't think it will be easy, especially if EWU already has a W penciled in.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Thanks, Grizo. Re: #3 EWU @ #10 Montana Game Thread
Well, you can, but if the timeout is used on D there's 40 more seconds on the clock at that point. Getting up from a sack, lining up for a field goal, etc., shouldn't take anywhere near the full 40 seconds. Not to mention you can spike it if it's not 4th. down. Saving the timeout for the O can get you out of a jam, but the jam would be created by not using the timeout on D.BlackFalkin wrote:Nah bro. UM's three timeouts saved between 1:50 & 2:00, which means they were used to more or less maximum effectiveness.

He wanted to stick it to EWU in 2011 or whenever it was @EWU, and he got throttled. ISU doesn't have the athletes (or coaches, IMO) to keep pace with EWU. Not to mention Baldwin and co. aren't the staff to overlook anyone. I'm a fan, I'm allowed.JALMOND wrote:It may not be easy.
