Quite a bit of the process has been common sense / now were this the Federal Gov't - no doubt - common sense would be far and away the least used tool in the process
But it's being handled LOCALLY

I guess it is very different out there. Not much common sense on the state or county level around here.

Once Washington and Colorado show that this can be done calmly and efficiently with a modicum of mutual cooperation between all sides / FDA / LCB / DEA / Farmers / Retailers / concerned Parents and Schools

the process will happen across the U.S.
Maine / Vermont / New Mexico / California / Oregon are next...

Agree. This shit will have to be worked out, especially the smell in apartment and condo - shared buildings.

Still, as legalization sets in, people will have unfettered access to high potency weed that can be eaten or drank, thus making this problem manageable.

Oddly enough, Government control is driving a heroin epidemic in Delaware (and many other places). Apparently there has been such a crackdown on prescription opiates that illegal users have turned to heroin, which is readily attainable at $5/bag.

And it's tax free.

Marijuana's tax potential is an important question for the prospects for pot legalization in other states. If pot proves a tax windfall for Colorado and Washington, other states may be inclined to look favorably on legal weed.

But if recreational pot smokers in the two states stay in the black market to avoid taxes, while the price tag for regulating a new industry balloons, marijuana legalization could suddenly look like a bad deal.

That's why many in Colorado's marijuana industry are pushing the tax measure. They say that because most people don't use marijuana, the public needs to see a public benefit from making the drug legal....

It's too soon to say what will happen to recreational pot prices after retail sales begin next year. But if current prices hold, Colorado's proposed tax rate would add about $50 to an ounce of medium-quality loose marijuana, roughly the amount that would fit in a sandwich-sized plastic bag.
