Of the 1,105 licensed tobacco retailers inspected by New York City's sheriff last year, 586 had cigarettes in their inventories that had been purchased on the black market, according to the city's Finance Department.

1) privately grown Pot can be shared / Not sold / you do understand the difference right
2) It is NOT illegal to grow pot / it is illegal to harvest pot beyond two personal plants
3) I am okay with whatever STATES deem necessary by their residents
4) Government dictates age on all kinds of things (including alcohol and voting)
I'm here to help / it's not as confusing as you want it to be
2) Semantics, unless you are going to argue that people are going to grow them for ground cover and not harvest them.
1) Yes - if they could sell legally without the hassels they go through now. Very dangerous now.

Over half is minor? Regardless, can you buy 20 joints for $5? Furthermore, like I said, people are accustomed to buying pot illegaly. I'm guessing most tobacco smokers wouldn't know where to buy black market cigarettes.kalm wrote:Minor.

People are lazy and into convenience. A few will grow their own, someday you might even be able to get it at farmers markets and U-pick fields. Mostly, it will come from licensed shops and eventually C-stores and Costco.89Hen wrote:People are used to buying pot in the shadows and they really prefer to buy things cheaply, ESPECIALLY when they know "the man" isn't getting a cut.kalm wrote:People prefer to buy things legally.

Far less than dealing with Sons of Anarchy
Re: New Gallup Poll: Legalization of Marijuana?
Hell yes there is. Virginia to New York is the biggest smuggling route in the country due to the price disparity. It even hits the states in between. There was a convenience store hit in DE where they pulled guns, took no cash, but emptied the place of every carton of cigarettes.kalm wrote:Is there a black market for smokes?89Hen wrote: It's not going to be cheap once you get the states involved GATW.

Just in case anyone out west wasn't aware, a pack of cigarettes costs $15 in New York. $6 in Delaware, two hours away. You can see how small-time criminals feel the allure.

Or they can be smart and save the time and go to NJ where it's $8.50
But cigs are taxed to hell for good reasons.

If you grew weed in your yard it would be horse shit.blueballs wrote:I smoked weed from the time I was 16 until I was 48 when I quit. I wish to hell it had been legal and I could have grown my own legally in my yard. I was paying $400+ an ounce for the mongo hydro stuff the last few years I smoked... no telling how much $$$ I dropped (and made) on weed in my life.
What you want is for the weed nerds to be able to grow the mongo hydro stuff in their basement legally.

You guys who think it's going to be easy (Chizzy said the answers are not hard) are either naive, stupid or are blinded by your position.

Not sure I recall saying anything about smuggling legal pot, but as 93 and I pointed out, that does already happen with legal cigarettes. Of course it will happen with pot. That said, I'm not sure it's one of the biggest challenges.

It's already happened, and while there will be some bumps, it's really quite easy.89Hen wrote:clenz wrote:Remember kids....

Yes. I'm not saying more states won't make it legal or that it can't work. My position is somewhat fluid and I'm the only one here asking the tough questions.Cap'n Cat wrote:89Hen wrote:There are lots of reasons to be against it IMO. Re: New Gallup Poll: Legalization of Marijuana?
Don't think it will happen to the same degree as cigs. Cigs are one of the most addicting things on the planet. Pot isn't. MOF, the more pot you smoke, eventually - the less you will want to smoke.89Hen wrote:clenz wrote:Remember kids....
