Yes, no, no, yes.Mvemjsunpx wrote:So what the hell is your argument, then? Is EIU gonna be one & done because of a weak schedule? Because they wear blue? Because SH prays so hard for Tony Romo's failure that it rubs off?Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:
Fail, once again. I never disputed that I said EIU would be one and done. What I disputed was EIU "beating nothing but nobodies" because I said that THEY (in reference to EIU, CCU, and Fordham) have played MOSTLY nobodies. Goddamn.
Do you even have an argument?

Re: CS Poll Week 8
You know I hate to take up for Sam Houston State. I really do. And I suspect that what we're starting to see with the last two games against Lamar and McNeese is the effects of having only 11 starters back and especially having lost most of their offensive line starters from last year. But still:
I find it interesting that you guys who vote in this poll voted Sam Houston State 8 spots lower than Eastern Washington when they have the same record and Sam Houston State gave Eastern Washington a pretty solid whipping head to head. I could understand if they didn't have the same record. And I understand that Eastern Washington beat the best team that any FCS team has beaten (Oregon State). But still. Same record. Beat Eastern Washington head to head while running the ball all over them. Eight spots lower.
Just kind of strange.

Could I ever be a star?

West Coast Bias in full effect. It's as though they didn't give up 49 points and 450 yards rushing.

Re: CS Poll Week 8
It is a typical poll. It is not if you lose it is when. The EWU game was weeks ago and the have played well since then. Personally I think it is OK to redo your poll every week - disregarding how you voted the week before. Sometimes I think people look and say, they lost but I voted them #X so I will only drop them so many spots.

That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801

Diversity in the polls, and how people piece them together, is what makes polls fun. AzGriz redoes his poll every week, I move teams up and down based on wins and losses. I imagine there are other methods out there as well. My reason for dropping SHSU vs. EWU? Timing.

So we should use computers instead?
I was thinking about this yesterday.. and the coaches polls get a lot of grief from people because the coaches very rarely, if ever, vote in the polls, the SID or some lackey does it. Then I got to thinking about the AP poll and how many voters in this poll are beat writers of college football teams. So I got to thinking how could beat writers possibly be qualified to vote in a poll. They essentially watch about 1 college football game every Saturday.. the team they're covering. So they have the game they're covering, then they write a story or two about the game once it's over.. they have interviews w/ players coaches, etc. They do that then they head off to their home or hotel. How do they have time to watch any college football game? What makes them more qualified to vote than guys like us who probably watch 14 hours of football every Saturday? If our home team is away there's a chance we'll plop our ass in front of the TV and watch football until we fall asleep or pass out drunk. I feel like I could easily vote in the FBS poll given the diversity of games I watch every week, esp if Montana is on the road. Anyways... there's that.

SHSU's other wins are against #76 Lamar, #112 Incarnate Word, #120 Texas Southern, #121 Houston Baptist. That's Lamar (barely won) and 3 of the 15 worst teams in FCS. Not exactly a resume that screams "high ranking".JohnStOnge wrote:You know I hate to take up for Sam Houston State. I really do.
