Alcorn State vs. Grambling: 2013 Circle City Classic Football Game Payouts Revealed (TSPNSports)

So because Alcorn was going to make an extra $10,000 they could afford to fly to Indy and Grambling couldn't?According to the contract signed by Alcorn State, the school will receive “a post-event guarantee payment” of $230,000 dollars. The terms of the payment include a 20% deposit in the amount of $46,000 to be paid to ASU within 30 days from the date the contract was executed – which was on March 12, and the remaining 80% of $184,000 to be paid “within 90 days after the event.”
In Grambling’s contract with Indiana Black Expo, the school is to receive payouts totaling $320,000. The payment terms include “a post-event guarantee payment” of $220,000 to be paid “within 90 days after the event” and “a post-event payment” of $100,000 “for scholarships of the University’s choice”.
Both contracts require that the marching bands from each school perform in the Circle City Classic parade and pep rally. A $5000 prize will be given to the marching band that “wins the Battle of the Band competition during the half-time game performance.”
In exchange for the guarantee payments, both schools are also required to sell a minimum of 1000 tickets.

Re: Mutiny at Grambling
This is what I don't get...
Grambling recieved $220,000 (plus $100k for scholarships) for this game, Alcorn received $230,000.
Listed attendance for this game was 22,357: http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?id=332852016" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Eddie Robinson Stadium holds 23,200
Jack Spinks Stadium holds 22,500
Why move THIS game to Indy? Both schools should have been able to clear at least double that amount as a home game.

Re: Mutiny at Grambling
they played in Shreveport last year, I don't know why they didn't play there again. I think this was Alcorn's home game. Grambling draws squat at home unless it's Jackson St or homecoming. Besides they still live in that world where they think people across the country wants to see them. They don't even go to New Orleans even tho 50% of their base is in Baton Rouge.DSUrocks07 wrote:This is what I don't get...

They should have been introduced to reality many yrs ago.Robinson was also guilty of living in the past and he passed this onto his players.tampajag wrote:they played in Shreveport last year, I don't know why they didn't play there again. Also don't let the Alumni off of the Hook. I live in Atlanta, and the Grambiling Alumni Chapter has well over 200 members. I know that the give to the school. Where is the money????
Re: Mutiny at Grambling
Not just if the students qualify academically, but like you said a transition program will be needed just for numbersdbackjon wrote:It probably would be a concern. Moreso at LaTech than UL-M. They would have to do some type of programs to transition them.clenz wrote: I'm sure I'll get blasted for this....and I don't know the academics of LT or ULM....but....would a lot of the students qualify at those universities?
I don't mean that as a slam at Grambling, or the students, however it could be a real "concern"
Grambling State had 5,500ish enrollees last fall...so about that this year probably. Not all students will got to the same university elsewhere, obviously, but lets say that gets split (at least the majority of the students) into 4 other universities. That's over 1K students per university. Maybe for LSU that wouldn't be an issue but ULM has only 7k enrollment, and Tech is just under 12k. Universities that size can't handle a sudden increase of 1K students plus incoming freshman. The facilities/space/resources just aren't there for it.

Tech/CC might be able to be left off of the list because I don't know if those are state funded - but the rest of them are state funded from everything I find.
Why the fuck is that needed? How the hell is it funded? I can tell you right now that as an outsider that has google at my finger tips that outside of about 6 of them it's not. Many of those schools need to find a way to pay their own way or find something else to do with the land they are on.

I saw the interview that the president did with ESPN and when he was asked if he knew about the conditions of the facilities it was clear he was lying through his teeth and that the university just needed to go.
His answer was something to the effect of
"Well....mumbling...I did not SPECIFICALLY know of the conditions but I had people and coaches who did...lots of lying bull shit...."
How the fuck do you not know that?
GSU just needs to be shut the fuck down. It's clear they are trying to hide this football investigation to keep the entire university from being looked at.
