Big Sky Picks - Week 8 (10/19)
Suutah 13-38 EWU — SUU looks like one of those teams that either wins close or loses big, seldom in-between
Montana St. 49-14 Weber — Will McGhee need to do anything other than hand it off?
Idaho St. 6-44 NAU — Will the Cartwright spark negate NAU's annual swoon?
Cal Poly 24-38 Montana — Hopefully Gregorak is more of a Breske than a Paulson against the option
Davis 17-21 NoCo — One thing the Bears have done reasonably well is stop the run
Sac State 42-39 NoDak — Has the Hornet football program run out of tragic ways to lose yet?

Re: Big Sky Picks - Week 8 (10/19)
If our defense plays like it did against Portland State we will have a good shot at winning this game and we did upset them last season. We are playing at "the pad" this year however so think the Eagles have the advantage, only chance is for our D to show up and our O to do enough to win, as it has been doing all year but think it will be to tough to overcome, hope I am wrong. Other then that:
-SUU vs EWU
-Montana St. vs. Weber
-Idaho St. vs. NAU
-Cal Poly vs. Montana
-Davis vs NoCo
-Sac State vs. NoDak
-SUU vs EWU
-Montana St. vs. Weber
-Idaho St. vs. NAU
-Cal Poly vs. Montana
-Davis vs NoCo
-Sac State vs. NoDak

Only two or three challenges left for EWU this season before the playoffs, and this ain't it.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Suutah 13-38 EWU — SUU looks like one of those teams that either wins close or loses big, seldom in-between

I'd LOVE to pick Weber over the Kitties, but I can't. If McGhee is even 50% (and perhaps even if he's OUT), I think MSU wins handily.
The NAU swoon is on...but not THIS week. All mid-to-upper-tier BSC teams win big over ISU....
This game will be a challenge for UM...but I think they'll pull it out in the end. It might be closer than Venus thinks, though....
If Venus makes a mistake this week, I suspect it's the UCD-UNC game. I think UCD is ready to win this week. Just so long as they get it out of their system NOW, and not have it rear its ugly head at Causeway.
The Sac-UND game could go to about a TD spread either way...but I'm happy that SOMEBODY thinks enough of us to say we'll win....

SUU @ EWU - I gotta think EWU will win at home against SUU but it wouldn't surprise me to see SUU is capable of a W.
Mt. St. @ Weber - I would go watch this game but I don't think it is going to be very close.
Id. St. @ NAU - Id St still has a lot of work to do.
Cal Poly @ Montana - Da Griz are at home and need to keep playing well
Davis @ NoCo - Davis should win this even on the road
Sac State @ NoDak - NoDak hosts and should win but I think they are still reeling from losses.

Naturally, I was counting the Montanas and CP. SUU may be 5-2 at this point, but they're nowhere near the caliber of those other three.kalm wrote:5-2 SUU, @ UM and Poly, MSU are as many challenges as any other team has at this point.

Re: Big Sky Picks - Week 8 (10/19)
41-21 so far. Just like Portland State, I need a week off. But there are some good games being played in the conference this weekend. Here are my predictions for 10-19, and my hope for perfection.
CP at UM---The Grizzlies are back home after their beatdown of the upstart UC-Davis team last week. The Mustangs put away Weber State at home. Do the Mustangs have the firepower to pull off the upset against the Grizzlies...UM 31, CP 24.
ISU at NAU---The Bengals finally broke through and got a conference win at home against Northern Colorado. Now they head out on the road to play the Lumberjacks who were in a thriller against Sacramento State. This one, however, should be no problem...NAU 34, ISU 17.
MSU at WSU---The Bobcats are coming off a bye and hope to have some healthy bodies ready to play. The Wildcats are struggling, but they are playing at home and hope to have a shot at a win at the end. Maybe a bit close, but the Bobcats should pull it out...MSU 28, WSU 14.
Sac State at UND---The Hornets are looking for anything good after a strange season. Last week they had the game get away in the last minutes against Northern Arizona. The former Sioux actually looked better for the first three quarters against Eastern Washington. Can they finish this one?...UND 31, Sac State 28.
SUU at EWU---The Thunderbirds have their defense to thank for their win last week against Portland State. The offense has taken the last two games off, and need to rise up for a shot at a win against the Eagles. The Eagles finally put away a pesky North Dakota team. This shouldn't be any problem...EWU 38, SUU 22.
UCD at UNC---The Aggies surprise season took a wrong turn last week against Montana. The Bears strange season took a bad turn at Idaho State. Both teams want this game, but who wants it more...UCD 18, UNC 14.

Thanks...SUU with a hiccup (should be 6-1)...no one wants to give them their due. After beating EWU tomorrow they still won't give them any heed...they caught EWU on an off day.EWURanger wrote:+1 - SUU is 5-2, not sure why people are discounting them at this point.kalm wrote:

Re: Big Sky Picks - Week 8 (10/19)
We were able to slow the Eagles down for one half but their offense was to good to keep off the scoreboard. Good new for my T-Birds however is that we get Idaho State and Weber State the next two games which we should win. Also with Montana State and NAU on the scheudule think we have a good shot at winning all of these games but need to win at least 3 to hopefully get into the playoffs.
