They shouldn't even have these cards to start with, they are thieves and they should be jailed.

And you claim to be a Christian...
Jesus called - he says "fuck off - I didn't get nailed to a cross for this shit"
Re: Louisiana and EBT??? **** idiots
Oh, no. Jesus said accumulate wealth and strive, at all cost, for a life of leisure, then give only a tiny percentage of your wealth to only people who are willing to work for it and do nothing else. Cuz your wealth creates jobs for everyone.dbackjon wrote:BDKJMU wrote:Are there any grocery chains that don't except lazy, freeloading, mooch (EBT) cards?

What I thought about when I saw this is the ridiculous efforts by academics to "prove" that wealthy people are less honest than poor people. They do it by doing stuff like counting how many pieces of candy people take when they're told it's OK to take the candy but what's left will go to children.
Poor people in this country will scam the system to the nth degree. If they think they can get something for nothing most of them...and I do mean "most"...will do it in a heartbeat. And they don't give a crap about other people having to pay for it. To suggest that poor people are generally more noble and honest than rich people is laughable.

Re: Louisiana and EBT??? **** idiots
The problem is that they get to vote to take other peoples' money. That's the bottom line. I've written about it before and provided the numbers. The "poor" have not only had their Federal tax burden reduced over time in percent of income terms, they've had it reduced in absolute inflation adjusted terms. They are in position to vote for politicians who will establish more and more government programs to give them things they don't have to pay for.So because they are impoverished, they don't get a say in the policies that affect them?
There really is something fundamentally wrong in a system that allows people to do that. There's a real problem with having people voting in a way to give themselves benefits other people have to pay for. That may offend egalitarian sensibilities. But it's a problem.
I am for a system that treats it like a public company. Like stock holders. If you put more into the system in terms of taxes your vote should count more. When you contribute more you should have more say. You shouldn't be able to sit there and be a drain on the system and have your vote count as much as someone who's paying $100 million in taxes every year.

Guess what, Johnny boy: people with that kind of money do have much more say in what happens in this country. Yeah, I'm not sure the wealthy are suffering for a voice or lack of representation these days.Grizalltheway wrote:Guess what, Johnny boy: people with that kind of money do have much more say in what happens in this country. Remember, money=speech.JohnStOnge wrote:

Funny...all the hand wringing and righteous indignation over this (and it clearly is wrong btw) but nary a peep or thread when a defense contractor gets convicted of fraud or a for-profit health care provider rips off medicare. In fact with the latter example, one might even stand a good chance of being elected Governor of Florida where you can then impose mandatory drug testing on welfare recipients to benefit a donors lab company, sticking it back to all those worthless, dishonest "takers".

They get one vote just like everybody else. And in election after election we have one political party that benefits greatly from the fact that the overwhelming majority of human dross in this society votes for it. The "something for nothing" crowd looking for handouts and freebies.Guess what, Johnny boy: people with that kind of money do have much more say in what happens in this country. We hear plenty about contractors and for profit health care providers. The stereotypical narrative in this culture is how the "evil rich" do all kinds of things while the "noble poor" suffer in silence.Funny...all the hand wringing and righteous indignation over this (and it clearly is wrong btw) but nary a peep or thread when a defense contractor gets convicted of fraud or a for-profit health care provider rips off medicare. But the truth is that a large percentage among "the poor" in this country are people who are the absolute scum of the earth who exist to get something for nothing or very little. Completely venal.
I'm not saying there isn't any dishonesty among the rich. Obviously there is. But there's plenty...I mean plenty...among "the poor" as well. And "the poor" are a lot bigger problem for this country than "the rich" are. They are a drain. The rich are not.

Are you completely unaware of the concept of lobbying? That's what I'm referring to when I say the wealthy have much more say in how this country is governed. You seem really hung up on the equal vote thing.JohnStOnge wrote:They get one vote just like everybody else.
