I am old enough to remember when the M-1 tank was being called a boondoggle. I can even remember G. Gordon Liddy, of all people, saying that we'd be better off having Mercedes build tanks for us.

I'm obviously not qualified to determine whether or not the F-35 story will be similar. But I do think that its foolish to think that we can just sit there with the same machines and never introduce new ones.

As for the comparison to Obamacare: Obamacare is an entitlement program. Entitlement programs are strangling this country. And this one is going to be one more brick on the pile. It's going to cost WAY more than the F-35. Whether it technically costs the government that or just costs the system that remains to be seen. But it's going to be one more unsustainable entitlement program.

It's like comparing an ant (F-35) to an elephant (Obamacare).
