Neither a SoCon title nor an FCS playoff bid is off the table yet for the Bulldogs.
“Where ever we are now, if we go win this game we’ve got two (victories),” Higgins said. “Win the next one, and we’re back where we need to be. We can’t worry about what took place in the first three or four games, other than learn from them. Let’s just do everything we can to get a win against Furman.”
After the offense struggled in a 21-10 loss to Wofford on Sept. 14, a back-to-basics move has boosted the Bulldogs in the last two games. The Citadel’s triple-option produced 343 rushing yards yards in a 28-21 win at Western Carolina, and had a record-setting performance in Saturday’s shootout loss at ODU.

Furman is struggling this year, so I expect the dawgs to win by 14+. I'm just glad we're getting a look at what our ex-Wofford defensive coach will do with CSU before we run the SoCon triple option gauntlet beginning with El Cid on 10/5.

I wish I was going to be in town that weekend. I'd love to see the game.

I don't think CSU's version is quite the same as Wofford/Citadel's version. I just hope CSU's can put up enough points to stay in the game, and hopefully the defense can get a few turnovers, and who knows. I still plan to make the trip up there. I've ALWAYS had such admiration (and some envy dammit) of the App State program, and never thought I'd get to see my Bucs play up there. We've played just about every team in the SoCon except App and GSU, and when I heard they were moving up, I hated to hear it b/c I thought that meant we'd never play at App. But....I was excited when I saw the '13 schedule!ASUG8 wrote:Furman is struggling this year, so I expect the dawgs to win by 14+. For CSU to have a chance, we're gonna have to create at least 4 turnovers, and make NO turnovers ourselves. We cannot give up a TD on special teams. If we do that, I think we can stay in it up to the 4th quarter, and then who knows.
If we don't do those things....it could be over by halftime. We just don't stack up roster-to-roster with App.
