Quite the contrary, actually.

The only thing UM has to envy if you're an EWU fan is the stadium. But that will change once the Gateway Project is finished. :coffee:

Don't forget twice as many national championships, 6 more national championship game appearances, a more consistent program, significantly better fan support, and last but not least, a 26-12 record against Cheney Community College. :kisswink:

Oh, you mean the project that will still leave Roos with less than 2/3 the capacity of WaGriz? :coffee:

.285 win percentage in NC games. So envious! A fanbase full of bandwagoners, chicken littles, and ledge jumpers.

Beats sitting at home or going one-and-done in the playoffs, which is what Eastern was doing most of those years. And speaking of bandwagoners, how does your attendence post national title and gimmicky-ass red turf compare with before? :coffee:

Ten years ago I would probably have thought differently. I would say that I respect the Montana program for what it has achieved in the past, but I would not say I am envious of it. Based off of state demographics, there isn't a whole ton of room for growth for Montana as an FCS program. I.E. you already own the majority of the market share/fans in your State, and the rest MSU owns. That isn't likely to change without some sort of major shift in demographics. Add to that the fact that UM's enrollment has been declining for 2-3 years now, although that could just be a temporary thing.

EWU is just scratching the surface of its potential with its football program as well as a regional University. It is the fastest growing University in a state of 7 million and has experienced record enrollments the past 5 years. A large investment has been made towards the campus and EWU is no longer as much of a commuter type school as it was back in the early and mid 90's when I went there. We share the media market of the Spokane metro area (600,000) with several other schools, but there is still room for growth there. As far as recent success, it is probably debatable, but one could argue that EWU has more of it. A more recent NC, a more recent semi-final appearance, 4 National Player of the year Awards, multiple playoff appearances since 2004 (although not more than UM) a win this season over an AP 25. One could also argue that EWU has had a lot more (positive) media exposure since 2010 than Montana, especially considering the sanctions and all the off the field legal stuff. I won't go into whether the sanctions were justified or not, but in either case it cast a lot of negative media exposure.

Not a knock on UM at all, just some observations. And I wouldn't ever take anything away from UM's accomplishments. I just take issue with the UM fans that are dismissive of ours (like Grizzalltheway).

Fishing looks to be good GATW.

It's all in good fun, man, and most of the time I knock Eastern it's in response to SE's trolling. I have a lot of respect for the strides your program has made under Baldwin, and had a great time at the games I attended last year while living in Spokane. :thumb:
