Dude, go through Elkton - who actually pays that toll anyway?

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is now $6. I have no other viable option to get from DC to Slower. When I first started commuting Dover to Annapolis in 2006, it was $2.50.

In 2002 roundtrip to my mom's in Fredericksburg: $7.50, $9.74 in today's dollars.
In 2013 $22. Avg increase over 10% a yr, about 4-5x the rate of inflation.

Over the last couple of decades you have had corrupt pols divert hundreds of millions of toll $ from the DRPA diverted to stadium construction (Linc, PPL, Citizen's Bank) theaters (Kimmel Center), "community redevelopment projects" and SEPTA. Anyone who voted to divert that $ is corrupt..

PA Turnpike had 43% increase in 03' and about 25% in 08'. Most of the 08' increase went to SEPTA.

Why I am against any expansion of tolled roads and any increases in tolls. Corrupt, greedy f'ing pols will divert $ to other areas, and use it to line the pockets of contributors (PA Turnpike Commission is a patronage racket)..

Greedy f'ing pols from PA, including Rendell, tried to toll I80 in 07', but has faced heavy local opposition, and so far Fed Hwy admin hasn't approved the plan.

I am against tolls unless:
-100% go to roads and bridges
-increases are kept to the rate of inflation.
-No Davis/Bacon with inflated union wages on public Hwy construction projects.

Only way you're going to get the above is if its privatized....

We can supply western MD with the 436th at Dover AFB, West Berlin style. We can drop our National Guard troops over there as well and force Baltimore to surrender the territory. Gotta make it happen on the weekend tho.

You, as well as I, know that the National Guard would be completely outgunned in Baltimore. We must avoid it entirely. Perhaps we could do a pincer movement through potentially friendly Montgomery and Howard Counties while simultaneously blockading the harbor and starve them out.

Tell me about. It took me a couple of months to realize the Bay Bridge had gone up. I cross so much that the price sign is part of the landscape I pay no attention to, and of course with EZ Pass I never stop.

I drive from Dover to Michigan a few times a year to see my daughter, the route I usually take is west across the bridge then hit 70 to Breezewood and take the turnpike. But with the cost of the tolls going up its getting to the point where its almost more cost effective to head north to State College then west on 80.

I hear you. Was wrong on the 03' increase- I said 54%. Was 43% as I recall. Typo. Bu in addition to the 08' increase I didn't even know they had another increase in 11' and another this year:

I only drive the PA Turnpike an avg of once every couple of months, so I didn't notice it. I hit the I95 and ACY Expressway tolls a lot more. During the fall almost every week...

The PA Turnpike is getting ridiculous as well. I think from where I live in suburban Philly to drive the length to Ohio would be between $30 & $40 in tolls and it's going up again soon.

Warrandale to Delaware River = $33.90, so $67.80 if you live in OH and want to visit your friend in Trenton and return.

Fuckin tolls. Someone tried to tell me that bridges in the NW are privately owned. I've never looked into it because it sounds so odd.
