Do you know why the US created the Idaho Panhandle? Because they knew what happens when you put Montanans and Washingtonians next to each other.Grizalltheway wrote:Where's the fun in that?EWURanger wrote:

Anyway, I'd wait until you've gotten a couple more games under your belt before making such bold claims. Montana has played one game, and in my opinion hasn't proven anything other than they can beat what looks to be a very down App State team at home. Same thing goes for EWU, we're proven we can get up to beat a Pac 12 school and kick the **** out of a DII team at home. Let's see how things play out some.
Oh, and 26-12-1.

Re: Big Sky predictions 9-14
My point is I think we'll know a little more about both squads after this weekend. It's probably a bit premature to judge how good the UM secondary is based off of one game against an App State team with a struggling Qb and without their best WR (UND will be a bigger test in that regard, IMO).Grizalltheway wrote:Where's the fun in that?EWURanger wrote:

Also, it's fairly baseless to say our run defense is sub-par at this early stage in the season. We out-gained Oregon State 177-105 on the ground, and Western Oregon 278-28.

Well, the same secondary that gave up 600+ passing yards to UND last year only allowed 200 to App's vaunted passing attack, so I think Z's assesment was pretty much right.EWURanger wrote:My point is I think we'll know a little more about both squads after this weekend. OSU's running game is non-existent, though. They only gained 57 yards on Hawai'i (1.7 ypc).EWURanger wrote: My point is I think we'll know a little more about both squads after this weekend. Why does UND smoke the Griz?
Why does EWU not keep it close?

Why does UND smoke the Griz? I actually think this will be close until the 4th griz lead the whole way until a couple long bomb TD's end it with UND on top.
Why does EWU not keep it close? I just think they get over matched here close for a half.

Re: Big Sky predictions 9-14
A bit scary as the night came in, but I emerged perfect this week, 11-0. 26-8 for the year.JALMOND wrote:Sitting at 15-8 just two weeks into the season, I can't help but think back to the first year doing this when I only guessed 9 games incorrectly the whole year. I've probably lost a few brain cells since then but I would have thought I'd stay around close. So here are my predictions for this weekend. Mostly non-conference, but a couple involving conference members. All my opinion only so have at it.
CP at Colorado State---Not that long ago, having Fresno State and Colorado State would have looked good for an FCS team to get a couple big victories. Unfortunately, as Fresno State showed the Mustangs last week, those days are past...Colorado State 44, CP 40.
EWU at Toledo---It has been well documented what happened when the Eagles played the FBS earlier in the season. This is big to see if they can get a second win over the upper level. They do have the strength, however Toledo knows what happened as well...Toledo 35, EWU 31.
Western State at ISU---The Bengals showed that they can beat the DII after last week's win over Dixie State. They don't have to worry if those wins will translate to conference wins as they stay within the DII ranks playing as a big dog...ISU 31, Western State 10.
UM at UND---The Grizzlies are fresh, taking a week off after beating Appalachian State at home. Now they have to go to the noisy barn, home of the No-Names, and try to get a win. The former Sioux want to show they belong in the elite Big Sky level and would love to get this game...UM 32, UND 28.
Colorado Mesa at MSU---The Bobcats had last week's game at FBS SMU in the bag only to lose late. Also, they lost their super quarterback late as well. Now they come home to face DII Colorado Mesa. New quarterback, no problem here...MSU 52, Colorado Mesa 12.
NAU at UCD---The Lumberjacks licked their wounds in Week 1, getting shutout at Arizona. Now they have to head on the road and play conference foe, the Aggies, who are currently experiencing rebuilding woes. The Lumberjacks need the win here...NAU 27, UCD 14.
UNC at Wyoming---The Bears hoped to make some noise starting with two DII teams then stepping up. However, those plans got derailed last week to CSU-Pueblo. Now, in order to right the ship, they need a win over an improving Wyoming team...Wyoming 38, UNC 10.
Humboldt State at PSU---The Vikings practically did everything last week to get a win over Pac-12 Cal except actually get the win. Still a good performance overall and getting a win over the Pac-12 is tough. Now they head down a level, bringing DII's Humboldt State in...PSU 45, Humboldt State 17.
Southern Oregon at Sac State---Two games in and the Hornets have scored no points. No points, no wins but no home games. That should all change this week as Southern Oregon comes in, having lost to teams such as Montana-Western and Rocky Mountain College. If the Hornets can't score on them, long season...Sac State 37, Southern Oregon 10.
SUU at Washington State---A "surprising" game involving two surprising teams. The Thunderbirds have looked good post-Sorenson year, the question is can they continue. A win over the FBS and a DII looks good, but going into the Pac-12 is something else. Especially when Washington State just beat Southern Cal...Washington State 25, SUU 17.
WSU at Utah State---The good feelings of getting an impressive win over the Southland's Stephen F Austin team was tempered down a bit after the Wildcats were not competitive at all against Utah. Now they play another Utah team, the Mountain West's Utah State team, which gave Utah a game in week 1...Utah State 55, WSU 14.
