After a pair of tussles with the Southeastern Conference, the Big Sky Conference is going to look downright inviting to the Toledo Rockets of the Mid-American Conference.
Toledo is 0-2 after suffering a 24-6 loss to Florida to open the season and then falling 38-23 to Missouri on Sept. 7. A year ago, UT advanced to its third-straight bowl game, falling to Utah State 41-15 in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho. The Rockets finished 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the Western Division of the MAC.
“It’s a test – it’s a true test,” said Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin. “They are a very quality opponent, and a team that wins eight or nine games every year at the FBS level. When you watch video of them, they can play with any team in the country and they showed that in the first two weeks against Florida and Missouri.
“We are going to have to really be on point on both sides of the ball,” he continued. “Our margin for error is going to be razor thin – especially on the road. There are certain things we did last week that we won’t get away with against Toledo. We know that, and we have to attack it all week in practice.”
Eastern enters 2-0, having upset 25th-ranked Oregon State from the Pac-12 Conference 49-46 on Aug. 31 and then scoring 29 first-quarter points in a 43-14 romp over NCAA Division II Western Oregon on Sept. 7.
Eastern is 2-0 for only the second time since 2001, and the first in Beau Baldwin’s 10 seasons as an Eastern head coach or assistant coach. In fact, the last time EWU was 3-0 came in 2007 when Baldwin was head coach at Central Washington.
“It has been awhile since we have been 2-0 because we always have had such a tough nonconference schedule to start the season,” he said. “The neat thing about the Western Oregon game is that there are a lot of things that we can coach and clean up. At the end of the day, I love finding stuff to clean up especially when the guys find a way to win, and win fairly convincingly. It feels pretty good to be 2-0.”

They certainly don't suck. While I don't think they're as good as Oregon State, they're a worse matchup for us because they have a great running back and spread the ball around well. They will have a lot of time-consuming drives. We'll need to force a turnover or two to negate the TOP battle.

Let the sandbagging begin. #2 FCS should take out an 0-2 MAC team without issue.

It's not sandbagging. Most of FBS would be 0-2 against Missouri and Florida.

Missouri is not even "receiving votes" in any poll and Florida is 18th/20th and 1-1. Toledo got beat by both. They suck. You are a high and mighty #2 and all we hear about is how great EWU is. You should win by at least a couple of scores. You guys are the world-beating FBS killers that all the rest of FCS wishes they could be. Gotta hold up your reputation.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Gotcha. Any FBS team not receiving top 25 votes must suck, especially if they've lost to two SEC teams.
Not saying we're going to lose, just that it's not going to be an easy win. Should be a good game.

But I'm told you guys (and maybe NDSU) are just on a different level from anyone else in FCS, which sort of makes you a low Top 25 FBS team. You guys should embarrass Toledo.

Ok, I'll bite.
Let me start by saying I'm sorry for your 2010/2011 National Championship LOSS to the EASTERN WASHINGTON EAGLES. I'm sorry your team un-assed a 19 POINT LEAD late in the 3rd to put the trophy in Baldwin's hands. I know you're not over it and I hope one day u open your eyes and realize that had Taiwan jones played, it wouldn't have even been close!
Having got that out of the way; Yes! Eastern is going to dominate this year, so you've heard right. EWU was on your tv screen beating a ranked FBS opponent, so yeah they probably will beat Toledo. But let me say this.... Don't forget this is a road game against a team from a 'higher conference' so if/when EWU does come out on top u better be a man and FORMALLY RECOGNIZE EWU for their accomplishment.
