UD Coach to give Kermit the Frog a gift

Post by DSUrocks07 »

Leading up to the game this Saturday, University of Delaware Head Coach Dave Brock was seen in Dover this morning at the Home Depot in search of a "goodwill gift" to his counterpart Kermit Blount at Delaware State University.

Next year’s game is the last one on the current contract between the state’s only two I-AA football programs. Hornet coach Kermit Blount said on Tuesday that he’s all for continuing the series.

“I would love to see it happen,” said Blount, who is starting his third season at DSU. “I think two schools in close proximity, we both play in the FCS (I-AA), I would love to see the game continue.

“On this end, we’re going to have to do some things here to assure that we can do a home-and-home ... we’re going to have some concessions on this end to make sure we get to that point. But I would love to see the game continue to play.”
And by concession, I assume he means triple the size of DSU's stadium? Delaware is not going to travel OOC to a 7,000 seat stadium.

First JU, then DSU, then Navy, then Wagner. :ohno:

Where's the smack?

I got two turn tables and a microphone.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?

It was easy to get up for the first game in 2007. UD had been portrayed by Pearlman and ESPN as a racist institution that was dodging an upstart HBCU in its shadow.

Well, 44-7 sort of changed all that. So did the other three drubbings. DSU's only hat-hanging point in the series so far was staying within 10 points of a terrible 2009 UD squad.

Pretty much. It was more intriguing then, I can't really say I "hate" UD, never have. Just thought it was fun to see Big State U being taking down a peg for something that should have happened a long time ago.

But honestly, potentially meeting in the playoffs is more of a tangible solution than an annual "beatdown" game, we can play other schools for that. Not to mention that a head to head matchup all but prevents DSU from even being considered for the playoffs thanks to the MEAC's low standing among FCS conferences. I'm more disappointed that we didn't play any FBS schools last weekend and this is our first game.
