There are people out there like this. It is what it is and I don't get too bent out of shape about guys like this behaving the way they do.

That said, this is just another huge indictment of the background and clearance process. If the background investigators had done their jobs this guy never would have had a clearance or a job at DHS. To me, that's the real issue with this story.

Aren't most of those investigations done by private contractors?

And we all know how DHS has been stockpiling massive amounts of ammo. I bet this guy is skimming from that, preparing for an upcoming race war.

I'm not saying it's 100% of the reason, but DHS trains a litany of federal law enforcement agencies like Secret service, US Marshall's, TSA, Fed. Bureau of Prisons. Also agencies such as the Border Patrol, TSA, the US Coast Guard, the Secret Service are under DHS. Close to $30B of its approx. $47B budget in 2012 was for services like ICE, TSA, Coast Guard, Border Security, Secret Service, FLETC, National Protection programs. I'm just pointing to the fact that most Americans are ignorant when it comes to DHS. They probably assume that DHS runs the TSA and nothing more.
