He's in his second term, and the only political ramifications would be how something like this might hurt the party or the democratic nominee. And I seriously doubt it will. 1) A shame that this guy, who went through the battle of Okinawa, had his life ended by a couple of punks who combined aren't worth a drop of sweat off his balls.

2) A reminder that guns aren't the problem Sure, it's reasonable to think that the murder rate would go down some if there were no guns because guns are effective tools. But it sure as heck isn't a situation where you could just subtract the number of murders committed using firearms and come up with an estimate of the number of murders we'd have in the US if firearms were eliminated. People would, to a large extent, just kill people in other ways. Focusing on guns and making it difficult for people who would never use them to commit or attempt murder to have them is focusing on the wrong thing. The underlying problem isn't the guns.

Very debatable. It takes a lot of effort to kill somebody without using a gun; to a large extent crimes of passion would end in injury rather than death. The guns aren't the underlying problem but they are an enormous amplifier.

And it is indeed a shame that these punks can't be just handed over to the vets family and friends.

Can you prove it? I can certainly cast doubt on any of what went on being racially motivated. ZImm said on the 911 tape he wasn't sure what race Trayvon was. He is a multicultural donk who had previously criticized Sanford police for the way they treated a homeless black man. He also mentored some black youth before the shooting. If there was a charge for racial profiling he would have been acquitted.

If there's any double standard in any of this it's that the standard of proof for racially motivated violence seems far lower for non black on black violence than it does for black on white violence. Compare a perfectly plausible case of self-defense versus a completely random act of violence.
