ILLINOIS
Statement by Statement by Barbara Blaine of Chicago, president of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests ( 312-399-4747, SNAPblaine@gmail.com )

In a huge victory for innocent kids and a huge defeat for child molesters, Illinois’ governor has signed a bill permanently lifting the civil statute of limitations on child sex crimes

This measure will stop more sex offenders. It enables child sex abuse victims to expose dangerous predators in court. It enables employers and neighbors and even relatives to learn about and protect themselves from child molesters who otherwise would have stayed “under the radar.”
Illinois kids are safer now because more child molesters will face justice.

Kids are safest when predators are jailed. But that can’t always happen. So the next best option is to expose predators. Now, thankfully, Illinois lawmakers are letting more crime victims do this.

Recently, Governor Pat Quinn has also signed HB 1063 which eliminates the criminal statute of limitations on child sex crimes. This too is a huge step forward for the safety of kids.

Actually, the new law in Illinois permits a claimant to pursue a claim for sex abuse after the lapse of the statute of limitations if:
(i) the victim was a minor at the time of the alleged act; and
(ii) (a) there is corroborating physical evidence (and there never is) or (b) there is documentary evidence that a mandated reporter knew of the claim and did not report it.

This law actually strikes a fair balance, because the claimant has to have some corroborating evidence to bring the claim after the lapse of the statute of limitations.

Other states have eliminated the statute of limitations in a way to allow some drugged-out felon to make a claim without any proof whatsoever (other than the word of a drugged-out felon, who claims he would have been valedictorian at Harvard except that he was molested by a priest as a child). The Diocese of Wilmington was bankrupted by such claims.

The Illinois statute is a law which is fair to all.

Joe, there were hundreds of claims against the Diocese of Wilmington. So there were hundreds of drugged-out felons going after the church?

According to bishop-accountability.org, Wilmington had at least 40 pedophiles which means there were hundreds and most likely, thousands of rape and torture victims. Because of the cover up and the times these crimes took place, there were no doubt hundreds of pedophiles in that diocese. Tens of millions lost in numerous court cases, millions spent on lawyers and PR professionals - NOT TO MENTION THE THOUSANDS OF HONORABLE PARISHIONERS AND THEIR WALLETS WHO LEFT THE CHURCH BECAUSE THEIR PRIEST WERE RAPING CHILDREN.

When you minimize the crimes of your church, like you just did again, you become an accomplice in the scheme. Pedophiles and the people who protect them rely on people like you to legitimize their actions. Shame on you and shame on your church.

Well, you missed the point. I never said there were no legitimate claims against the Diocese of Wilmington.

What I said was the Diocese was forced into bankruptcy when Delaware eliminated the statute of limitations. Hundreds of new claims, never previously asserted and many of questionable validity, were raised for the first time.

When dioceses go bankruptcy, schools close, soup kitchens close, homeless shelters close.

The tens of millions lost by DOM were legitimate claims, many settled to avoid further embarrasssment for the church and additional claims. The spirit and intent of your statement was to minimize the crimes of your church. You conveniently left out the bulk of evidence against your assertion - donations plummeting, people no no longer supporting your crime syndicate, numerous pedophiles operating in total freedom with access to your children, numerous legitimate claims, poor management decisions.......

How bout next time you:

1. Write more clearly and
2. Be honest

:thumb:

Who cares if your schools and charities close? For every dollar that comes into the church, 90+ percent of it is wasted in catholic bullshit. Shit, even the government does better than that. Another group, perhaps people who truly adhere to the values of Jesus like the Quakers or atheists, will pick up the slack. :thumb:

Most children are raped in the Roman Catholic churches. The RCC has created a veritable Disneyworld for pedophiles, perverts and sadists. However, all organized religions are guilty. MOF, the Jews are getting hammered right now with several major child rape scandals. They're dealing with it almost as bad as the dumbshit catholics are too. :ohno:

Arrogant religious assholes, all of em.

Diocese of Wilmington was a typical catholic pedophiles dream. The link below is a 7 page bulletin full of total catholic bullshit that has absolutely nothing to do with jesus and the handrwritten notes of one of its many pedophile priests. Notes include:

"Boys" is circled in "Altar Boys" with DeLuca's note, "no gals here!!" and "23 lads a Sunday"
They charged "Pew Rent"
Making light of expecting $10 a pop to light stupid fucking candles in church

Think this shit was from the 50's? Nope, 1999. :ohno:
