The truth of the matter is Sam has to replace four starters on the offensive line, which is never easy to do, and also have to replace veterans in the secondary and LB. Maybe they won't miss a beat but odds are they settle back towards the pack a little bit. IMO, this may be the strongest the SLC has been since we became a full football member in 2005.
Sam Houston's def will be better than last year.
LB- Tanner Brock from TCU check the video. 2010 106 tackles and 3rd team FBS all American. He will will replace Taylor just fine
Johntel Franklin from Texas A&M DB that can play anywhere. came to Sam for grad school with a year of eligibility left.
we also have First team all american Bookie Sneed at CB.

I could go on but everyone will be able to see for themselves in a few weeks.

I was on the field today. Hotter than hell, those boys from EWU are going be in for some september Heat and Humidity that will be in their heads from the moment they walk off the bus.

The bearkats proved that they can play in the cold, lets see what the BSC can do in Huntsville in the Heat. We are still cleaning the chunks from the field the Grizz left a few years back.
I'm not worried about the heat. The Montana game last year was in late September and the high was in the low 90's. But the humidity...

JFC, who would want to live in that bath house? Just another example why people in Texas are, in general, stupid. :ohno:

Anyhoo, Roos field is around 2700 feet in elevation meaning our athletes have a little more wind to start with. That should negate the humidity advantage quite a bit.

And yes, the Bearcats HAVE made an impressive run through the BSC the last two years. :notworthy: We playd ONE really shitty half of football (our worst in a long time) and, as JSO implied, I hope those 11 new starters and d-coordinator can hold VA and company to less than 6 touchdowns in 30 minutes this time. :coffee:

Look no further than Mike Collins your former DC. He saw Sam Houston as an upgrade.
Sam Houston pays more. It'd take quite a few more years for Sam Houston State to establish itself as being at the same level in terms of year in year out sustained success as McNeese State has had. McNeese State finished with winning records 18 times and made the playoff 14 times during the most recent 20 seasons. Sam Houston State's finished with winning records 10 times and made the playoffs 4 times over the same period.

Even though McNeese has had a rough period by its standards recently it's had 7 consecutive winning seasons. Sam Houston State has never had more than 5 consecutive winning seasons; and that was during 1952 through 1956.

It could be that Sam Houston's program will take off and achieve a record similar to McNeese's in terms of sustained success. But if so it'll take a few years to be able to say that.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

kalm, I have lived here my entire life and still am not used to the humidity. Trust me, there is no way an athlete coming from a high/dry climate can be prepared for it much less acclimate to it quickly. If you are making the trip you will see for yourself.

However, even with the humidity there is no other place I would rather live than Texas.

Watch the trash talk about the last game. You may have made a comeback but you still lost. :thumb:

Now if I'd really wanted to talk smack, I would not have acknowledged the success you've had against the BSC. I'd point out that Sam and EWU have pretty much the same success this decade...except you haven't been able to close the deal and actually win a chipper.

There's really only one fanbase that can truly talk smack right now...the same one you lost to badly...twice. Which...EWU also happened to beat.
