It's mostly just the Rats Maze that is NYC to Richmond
It's just a god damned human circus
DC traffic (in fact right the fuck where I live during the week) is just mind numbing.

It does suck to plan your day around the traffic. I leave work at 4pm (3 during furlough), get home, and do not venture out again until after 7pm.

I-95 is in perpetual construction mode with the southward extension of the third HOV highway in the middle of I-95. It currently ends in Dumfries, VA but is nearly done to Garrisonville Rd now in Stafford, VA. I live right between those two points in the construction zone from hell.

When did you last visit the entire Mid-Atlantic region? Perhaps you know better than those of us who live here. :coffee:

How are the ocean beaches and deciduous forests in Montana? The Revolutionary and Civil War sites? The hundreds of great universities, art museums, national monuments, and world class hospitals? ;)

Went to DC, Baltimore, and New York in '09. DC was pretty cool, NYC even more so. I've also been to the north shore of Oahu, San Diego, and Glacier, and those are all closer to heaven (IMHO, of course) than anything on the EC.

Those things are all great, and I enjoyed seeing them while I was there. I just think calling them heaven is a bit much.

According to Chizzy's map of suckiness, I have only been on the edge with North Carolina, which I liked and NYC & the Hamptons which I liked for the most part. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I'll admit I could easily live in places like Asheville, Burlington, VT or Portsmouth, NH. Just wouldn't want to be that far away from friends and family.

I lived there for two years. It's great if you like Jersey Shore light.

Well the fact you're no longer there should bump it up a few notches for everyone. :thumb: :thumb: :kisswink: :kisswink:

Oahu, SD and Glacier I'm sure are incredible. So is the Blue Ridge Parkway (was on that last Thursday, less than an hour from my home), Gettysburg Battlefield, Jamestown, DC National Mall... Seems like the only folks who can't appreciate other parts of the country are the guys out west. If you drive up I-95 you are going to see the worst parts of every city, greasy gas stations and truck stops and not have a good impression of what's just a couple miles off the road. Within an hour of my house:

Crabby Dicks always has a catchy, provocative phrase on their sign board. I go to the movie theater right next to it in Midway. Their food is OK.

I'm sure many people can find some interesting things about places located all over the country. The true beauty of the EC is that they are sooooooo close together. And the beauty of the Mid-Atlantic region is that you can be relatively close to a beach but also find hundreds of interesting places within a 6 hour drive. I live in SE VA just 5 miles from Jamestown
Image
and 3 miles from Colonial Williamsburg
Image
and 2 hours from Charlottesville
Image
and 2.5 hours from DC
Image
and 3 hours from Baltimore
Image
and 3 hours from Chapel Hill
Image
and 4 hours from Gettysburg
Image
and 4 hours from Philly
Image
and 4.5 hours from Bald Head Island, NC
Image
and 5.5 hours from NYC
Image
and 6 hours from Ibanez
Image
and a lot of other stuff in between.

I didn't feel the need to pile on with the Jersey stuff, especially since Sandy screwed much of it up.
