Congress should've read it before they passed it

Post by Ibanez »

nder a wrinkle that dates back to enactment of the law, members of Congress and thousands of their aides are required to get their coverage through new state-based markets known as insurance exchanges.

But the law does not provide any obvious way for the federal government to continue paying its share of the premiums for the comprehensive coverage.

If the government cannot do so, it could mean an additional expense of $5,000 a year for individuals and $11,000 for families under some of the most popular plans.

Not surprisingly, that idea is unpopular on Capitol Hill.

Maybe Pelosi and Co. should have read the bill before they approved it.

They, like many others on the sidelines, are too interested in the "football game" aspect of politics to be at all concerned with the ramifications of the "victories" or "losses". Idiots!

Pelosi On Obamacare: “I Don’t Remember Saying That Everybody Would Have A Lower Premium” –

Pelosi In 2012: “Everybody Will Have Lower Rates”…

Via Weekly Standard:

At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Nancy Pelosi responded to news that, contrary to earlier claims by Barack Obama and Pelosi herself, Obamacare will cause health insurance premiums to rise sharply for many people who purchase their own insurance in the individual market.

“I don’t remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium,” Pelosi said in response to a question from THE WEEKLY STANDARD. But during last year’s presidential campaign, Pelosi said that because of Obamacare “everybody will have lower rates.” Pelosi, the House minority leader, made the comment during a July 1, 2012 appearance on Meet the Press.

Howard Dean Admits Obamacare Includes Death Panels, Wants Them Repealed
Life News ^ | Steven Ertelt

When Congress debated Obamacare, pro-life advocates and Republicans like Sarah Palin were castigated for claiming the government-run health care program would include death panels that would ration health care treatment.

Now, former presidential candidate Howard Dean has essentially admitted they were right and is calling for the repeal of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). In a Wall Street Journal op-ed Monday he called the IPAB “essentially a health-care rationing body” that he believes will fail.

What the hell do any of them in Congress care how it works or what it will cost? They'll never be subject to the law they're making. :ohno:

Congress can make post hoc changes to the sequester to make sure they aren't inconvenienced. Surely they can do something to ensure their health care isn't ruined by health care deform. :thumb:
