The judge rejected the bankruptcy today, citing that it was unconstitutional under Michigan law.

Not only that, but that it didn't "honor" President Obama, the man who single handledly saved Detroit years ago.

That wasn't one of her reasons though, although I hate when judges decide to add their personal opinions just for the heck of it. Just hand out the ruling, the reasons, and end it. No need for personal jabs.

I'm sure that the ruling was completely based in the law. But the personal comments and open animosity towards Snyder and the state AG simply because they filed the paperwork literally minutes before she could issue a restraining order that the Unions were attempting to file that same day, undermined the entire proceedings.

Unions suck.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

U.S. Rep. John Conyers Jr., D-Detroit, said Friday that Aquilina’s ruling justifies the need for congressional hearings on whether Detroit is misusing the bankruptcy process to slash retiree pensions and health insurance coverage.

Seriously? How about $20 Billion in debt? I feel bad for those suckers that believed the Unions but there isn't any money.

Btw, I'm not 100% familiar with how Unions operate, but are they always tied to the budget of a city? :suspicious:

Well yeah. :dunce: I figured that much. I wasn't sure, given the history of Detroit, if the auto industry was somehow tied into it. You never know with those unscrupulous Democrats and Unions.

Worse than Detroit actually going bankrupt is the phrasing the media has decided to use while "reporting" on this issue. They will never point a finger at unions or liberal management.

Only so much as the union retirement plans probably bought Detroit bonds.
