Who is going to say it didn't happen like that? Trayvon, the thug wannabe with a record of disciplinary problems? You must convict when you have no doubt in your mind. This case was full of doubt from day one and the Prosecution never proved it.
I didn't say the jury didn't get the verdict right based on the evidence. I'm just saying that Zimm got away with achieving his heart's desire. Better a guilty man go free than an innocent one be convicted, but I think I'd hang on to that Kevlar vest for a while until I made it up to northern Idaho, though....

This is kind of the "lost point" of the whole thing...
Nothing was more joyous and fulfilling for Zimm than the prospects of offing some punk

it's a win / win
He gets to legally fulfill his dream and one less punk walks the street

And two of the lies he got caught in pointed toward premeditation. He was living for the day he could be Clint Eastwood and show those cops who rejected him that he was the real deal.

So, Zimm called the cops and described the guy he was gong to kill just mere minutes before he killed said guy....... :suspicious:

Makes sense to me.

Well if he hadn't called the cops he'd likely be in jail right now...
It's not a bad idea

I'll tell you what though...

Actually it's a horrible idea.
All he would have to do is not call the police and just say that he was walking around the neighborhood got jumped by the guy and was getting mugged.
That's probably more believable than what actually happened.

If somebody tracks you: Kill them and use "stand your ground" / Case closed
In her case, she couldn't use "Stand Your Ground" because she kept going back to the guy time and time and time again. PLUS....being arrested multiple times for domestic violence herself didn't help her case at all.

.....and for the umteenth time. Zimmy didn't use "Stand Your Ground" in his defense, so your point is moot.

Point needs to be made again here...

- TMart walks home...none of this happens.

- TMart calls police instead of his buddy, Zimmerman gets charged with stalking and intimidation.

Fact is that although Zimmerman followed him, TMart escalated the situation by initiating the confrontation.

That you have a reasonable right to defend yourself when you are in a physical altercation and feared for your life? Absolutely they did.

a) Same State
b) Same law

(CBS News) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Florida woman who fired warning shots against her abusive husband has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Marissa Alexander of Jacksonville had said the state's "Stand Your Ground" law should apply to her because she was defending herself against her allegedly abusive husband when she fired warning shots inside her home
She walked out of the house after a verbal argument, went into her car and returned to the house, at no point calling 911 in-between, and then aimed her loaded gun in the direction of her husband AND two children before firing "warning" shots.

SYG and any self-defense law states that if you find yourself in a situation where you fear for your life you have the right to defend yourself. If you find yourself in a situation, leave to where you are safe and then return to it WITH a weapon, self defense doesn't apply and it then falls under pre-meditation.

I wish all of these "legal scholars" actually knew what the hell they were talking about. :coffee:

No... I'm not acting like Zimm shot anybody in the back
But Florida set a precedent / Mark my words / They set a precedent
And nobody's going to like where it goes from here

Watching CNN. Would people PLEASE stop referring to Martin as a "child." First of all, a 17 year old is not a "child" even in a general sense. A 17 year old is a "teen." Secondly, Martin was not small and he was an athlete. In all likelihood he was physically superior to Zimmerman.

So you think people are not going to respond emotionally to this..?
and you think this case isn't going to have some strange consequences..?

An entire community of people are going to come to a completely different conclusion than you came to and they very well might respond in a way you find "unintelligent"

God you are thick. :dunce: As the Col already pointed out, "stand your ground" WAS NOT USED by the Zimmerman defense. Never mentioned once. It has zero to do with the Zimmerman case. There is no as you put it "The moral of this story is: Kill the evidence and you can use "stand your ground"". The Zimmerman case changes nothing in regard to FL's stand your ground.

Chiz, when I was 17, I would have kicked my own ass after I turned 30 (and I was in great shape at 30...and at 17). I could have easily beaten someone to death. Once a fight started (I never started the physical confrontation), I did not stop until the person was physically disabled.

A teenage mind, especially an angry one...is not a pretty thing. Consequences are not always clear...or cared about.
