Glad it's over. Haven't paid much attention to it. Will not understand why it deserved to latched onto by both sides of the political spectrum. I understand why it's a bug deal for locals like bluebells and floridians... but, I couldn't give less of a fuck about this case.

Shit like this happens every day all across America...why did this become such a big deal?

In Florida a judge can instruct a jury that they can consider a lesser charge.

At this moment, given all the information available right now, I think this is precisely what will happen. Zimmerman will be found not guilty of 2nd degree but guilty of manslaughter. He will get that max sentence of 20-30. The sentence will be completely political. I say this because I used to deal daily with guys who have murdered other guys just like them. These guys walk free because 1) nobody saw nuttin, and 2) the victim is also black. If Zimmerman was black this would just be another forgotten story about how the most dangerous thing to a black man in America is another black man between the ages of 15-32.

Although with the Zimmer being a private citizen I doubt this would go far. He's not held to the same standard as police officers, for better and for worse.

I'm genuinely surprised the jury didn't "split the baby" and convict him of manslaughter. Didn't think there was any way they weren't influenced by the political aspects. I didn't think he SHOULD be convicted of anything given what I understood about how the law works and the evidence that I knew about but though he would be. I have to give credit to the jury members for not being influenced by the politics of the situation.

To me the reason to care about it is that it was a political prosecution. Someone who never should even have been arrested was brought then brought to trial because of political pressure. That, to me, is very wrong. So there was a reason to follow this and hope that he'd be acquitted and those who applied the political pressure would not get their pound of flesh. I would not have bet on him actually getting acquitted but I sure was hoping he would.

Yes, she should have waited until the defense was ready to rest. And I think that's why West was so concerned. If I were in that position, I would be thinking that perhaps the Court is going to force my client to declare, right now, whether he was going to testify or not -- when that decision had not yet been reached -- and then the Court was going to hold us to that declaration. So I would have objected at that point too.

Also, as a strategic matter, you would want to hold your cards tightly to your vest and keep the prosecution in the dark as long as possible about your intentions.

However, this would not have created an appellate issue unless Zimmerman responded yes or no, and then the Court held him to that decision even though he wanted to change his mind later.

I don't think GZ is "guilty" legally, but it's really hard for me to swallow a guy walking away completely after fvcking with an unarmed kid and later killing him.

Well, it turns out things happened exactly how we all knew it happened...Trayvon was a loser punk who thought he was tough, so he jumped an innocent man who was simply following him.

Trayvon, the racist, didn't call the police...he called Jabbette the Hut to complain that a "Cracker" was following him. Then Trayvon decided to take matters into his own hands by attacking and beating an innocent person.

In the end, Trayvon got what he deserved for attacking someone who had the gall to run up in his business.

Let's be clear, there is nothing wrong with following and monitoring someone who you suspect is a potential threat...Obama has told us it is OK.

Justice was served. There's wasn't any evidence of murder. The only fact was a struggle an Zimmerman shot Martin. The case had too many what ifs.
