Next Big Sky National Champion

Post by Wildcat Ryan »

Just for the sake of good conversation. Not really to be taken seriously.........or is it?

Ok, take out the traditional powers (UM,MSU and EWU) Which Big Sky team besides the ones mentioned, would be the first to win a National Title.

Cal Poly
Idaho State
North Dakota
Northern Colorado
Northern Arizona
Sacramento State
Weber State
UC Davis
Portland State
Southern Utah

Just for kicks, which of those 10 schools would be first to win an FCS National Championship?

There's only one team on that list that's even remotely competitive on a year to year basis.

It sure as hell won't be NAU. They can't win a game after Halloween. 8-)

Id say MSU, as long as they dont have to play SHSU before SHSU has to play NDSU.

Cal Poly is kinda like Idaho in the '80s & '90s. They're always a playoff contender, but never do much beyond that.

That being said, they're still the best choice on that list.

Although I appreciate the whimsy of this thread I currently am a bit bothered by the fact that essentially there is consensus that Cal Poly is at least 4th best :/

Poly should be favored.

Might take a coaching change to get the other schools to the top.

Taking the Montanas and EWU out of the equation, I would have to say CP would be at the top of the list. Knocking on the door would also be Sac State and Weber State, if they can put consistency into the equation; they've both had spurts where they looked like world-beaters, but they couldn't sustain it for more than a couple of weeks at a time. PSU has shown signs of righting the ship, but they're not there yet.

No-one else need apply....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I back you up on most of your arguments...but Weber State???? Might be time to see Clenz' wife for some shrinking because PFL really isn't doing her job.

No shit. Weber showed everyone what they were made of when they got blanked 38-0 by William and Mary in 2009.

I agree that Cal Poly is the next team to have a chance but I want the Eagles to win one more before anyone else in the Big Sky. :thumb:

Montana will have its third before that happens.
