The Pats will still contend as long as Brady can play. Hernandez is fucked. At the very least, he's an accessory to murder. Then again, Ray Lewis got away with it.

Hernandez reportedly has been uncooperative with police, hiring a lawyer and not talking to law enforcement officials at all. But after they searched his home on Tuesday, they removed a large box. Police returned to the home for another search on Wednesday, but nobody was home.

According to Fox 25, Hernandez and Lloyd were together at a bar on the night of Lloyd's death along with two other men. Fox 25 writes, “it is unclear where the car went or what happened during the ride [home], but according to the source only three men returned to Hernandez's home at the end of the night and Lloyd was not one of them.”

Lloyd, shot in the head, later was found in a field close to Hernandez's home. Lloyd had been dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée.

Investigators have also searched three Enterprise rental cars that were registered to the NFL star, including one that had its silver mirror knocked off. That vehicle, sources said, was recovered at an Enterprise location in Boston Wednesday, a day after police issued a BOLO [Be On The Lookout] for it. The sources said it had been dropped off abruptly sometime Tuesday with the broken mirror.

Another rental vehicle was recovered not far from Lloyd's body. A third rental was stopped from pulling out of Hernandez's driveway Tuesday by state police and its two occupants were questioned and released. Police were seen searching that car Tuesday night.

Everyone is forgetting that NE got Ballard last year off of waivers from the Giants. Assuming he is healthy (and he did participate in some workouts this Spring), he is a solid TE. Everyone was on BB's case about signing him last year but this could turn out to be a great pick up off of waivers

clenz is correct, as per usual. The days of the TE as an auxiliary tackle are LONG gone. A TE must now be able to block AND catch. And nowadays, a TE must be able to run good routes not only from a down position, but from a 2-point stance when flexed out. A TE must be able to go in motion, and for more than just shifting the strength of the line in a jumbo set. There are very few TEs of the caliber of a Doug Cosbie or a Todd Christensen. But if you have ONE, you can make do with a couple more second-tier TEs as well, or at least bringing over a DL on a jumbo set, though that's more of a college thing. But you absolutely cannot get by with a string of nobodies or even ZERO TEs. Defenses caught on to the Run and Shoot fifteen to twenty years ago: you can't run without a TE, and passing without a TE becomes problematic because a secondary doesn't have that double-threat to worry about. And clenz can probably provide a dozen or more OTHER reasons why TEs are a VERY important position on the offense.

Yeah, that's why Gronkowski's injury pre-Super Bowl a couple years ago didn't move the line in Vegas. Because it doesn't mean squat. If you have a good QB and dominant lines and you can fill in the rest with decent or better pieces, you'll be just fine. The only time I've heard a team complaint that they lost because of their TE was the Jackie Smith SB drop. TE is a luxury in the NFL...not a necessity.
