As Komen donations drop, CEO gets 64% raise
Typical Conk thinking - organization/company is tanking - let's give the person responsible a huge raise!
Heckuva job, Brinker. Way to exploit the death of your sister for your personal gain, you cunt.

When the Susan G. Komen Foundation announced last week that it was canceling half of its 3-Day races next year, the charity blamed the economy. But it also acknowledged that its decision to stop providing funds to Planned Parenthood was a factor.
In early 2012, Komen announced it was pulling its grants for breast-cancer screenings from Planned Parenthood, drawing an immediate backlash from Komen supporters and abortion rights advocates. Within days, Nancy Brinker, the group’s founder and CEO, reversed the decision to defund the organization. Then, in August, Brinker announced that she would be stepping down.
But 10 months later, Brinker still holds her position and tax documents reveal that she received a 64 percent raise and now makes $684,000 a year, according to the charity’s latest available tax filing. Komen says the raise came in November 2010, prior to last year’s controversy.

Not really an informative article, it never resolves the question if she got the raise in 2010, as Komen claims, or at some point after the controversial issues came up in 2012. Seeing how if she got the raise before or after the controversy would be the hinge on which this thread was based, getting a better article to clear that up would've seem to have been the better choice.

It is a little confusing on that aspect - but bottom line, she is making $640K, which is theft from a non-profit. It is well above average.

This is the reason I no longer donate to any national charity and have shifted all of our charity donations to local groups. Too many of these organizations are paying way too much in salaries to executives.dbackjon wrote:GannonFan wrote:Not really an informative article, it never resolves the question if she got the raise in 2010, as Komen claims, or at some point after the controversial issues came up in 2012. Salvation Army is good. They've always been on the up and up and the percentage of donations that actually gets to recipients is higher than the other natl charities.HI54UNI wrote:This is the reason I no longer donate to any national charity and have shifted all of our charity donations to local groups. I'm not saying all national charities. Some are pretty good. And everyone needs to make their own decision what to do with their money/donations.CID1990 wrote:Salvation Army is good. If you want to find out more about non profits you can go to http://guidestar.com/. You have to register for an account but it is free. Once you log in you can search and find the form 990 for any non-profit organization that has to file one. Charities, your local electric cooperatives, etc. Eye opening stuff.

When my father-in-law returned from Okinawa in 1945 he said that the Red Cross was selling pencils and paper and envelopes to the troops to write home with and the SA was giving away the exact same stuff. He still hasn't forgotten that.

You can also check Foundation Center - http://foundationcenter.org/findfunders/990finder/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - they don't require an account.HI54UNI wrote:I'm not saying all national charities.
