Re: Komen cancelling races in major cities
The whole thing is a shame because Komen was such a great brand for a great cause that affects so many women and their families.
If someone could get a hold of the Komen organization, place this issue behind it, and cut the extravagant/needless overhead of this group, this could be a great charity again.
I agree it needs new leadership not tainted by this fiasco. Incidentally, before the Komen flap, this pro-life group which monitors non-profit charities would periodically email me with information. Komen was always recommended "with some reservation" because of its ties with PP, but it also noted "the very important work Komen does support makes it an appropriate organization for charitable giving" (I'm actually paraphrasing).
Since the fiasco last year, the wording is now Komen is "recommended, but with deep reservations." The other language lauding Komen has now been excluded.

Sometimes you just do what was right. And opting not to fund Planned Parenthood is right. If it costs you, it costs you.
The only thing Komen did wrong was reversing its decision. Both in moral terms and in practical terms.
Had it stuck to its decision, there's a good chance it would've gotten support from pro life groups and individuals. By doing what it did, it lost support from the dark said (planned parenthood supporters) and also lost support from the good guys.

Right. Promoting women having their own progeny killed is the "good" side. Nothing as good as an organization that works as hard as it can to see to it that tens of millions of innocent members of our species are killed. Great people. As usual, you have the roles of good and bad reversed
