I know democrats and republicans who are just as guilty. Perhaps Komen should keep the religious feelings out of the boardroom and do what's best for everyone. Just a thought.D1B wrote:No, conk housewife cunts filling their purses, playing with people's lives and fucking over the poor.Ibanez wrote:

How many breast cancer walks/runs have you done again? I've done two. My wife was the top fundraiser at the last one, and neither were with KomenD1B wrote:ASUG8 wrote:

Exactly. Conks are the ones always giving.D1B wrote:Conks never seem to get it.
I'm sure that's part of it.JoltinJoe wrote:You do realize that Komen is suffering because the pro-life donors have gone elsewhere after Komen reversed itself and continued to give to Planned Parenthood?

My wife has done a bunch. I have never done one. Too much pink all over the place. Screw that.ASUG8 wrote:How many breast cancer walks/runs have you done again? I've done two. My wife was the top fundraiser at the last one, and neither were with KomenD1B wrote:

Komen's big issue is that you commit as a fundraiser to raise $2300. If you can get it from others, great, but as I understand it you're on the hook for it if you can't get it. That's partially why we've been involved with Avon and Relay for Life although we've raised substantially more than the $2300 in each race.D1B wrote:I'm sure that's part of it.JoltinJoe wrote:You do realize that Komen is suffering because the pro-life donors have gone elsewhere after Komen reversed itself and continued to give to Planned Parenthood?
Madison was/is a huge Komen site and practically every runner/fundraiser I know is pro choice and bailed.
I agree Komen pissed off both groups. But pro-life groups have been urging to give elsewhere as a result of Komen's reversal and I'd guess this is a bigger factor.D1B wrote:I'm sure that's part of it.JoltinJoe wrote:You do realize that Komen is suffering because the pro-life donors have gone elsewhere after Komen reversed itself and continued to give to Planned Parenthood?

Good for you. I've never done a Komen race but i've been part of Relay for Life many times since high school.D1B wrote:ASUG8 wrote:

I don't doubt this. However, we're talking about races here - not corporate, government or group gifts (or gifts to PP.)JoltinJoe wrote:I agree Komen pissed off both groups. PP itself is largely supported with tax payer dollars. Among major non-profits, PP falls way on the lower end of organizations supported by private donations -- only about 25 percent of its budget comes from private donors. Even then, much of that comes from large donors, such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which specifically earmarks its donations to avoid funding abortion services.
For this reason, I suspect Komen's problems have more to do with pro-life donors finding other charities to support. I have frequently seen it depicted in the media that Komen's problems is a result of a backlash of PP supporters boycotting it. However, other than a temporary surge in donations to PP immediately after the Komen controversy, private donations to PP have remained somewhat constant.
