I put in countless hours of pro bono labor. We help end generational poverty and find people jobs, which affects many others.AZGrizFan wrote:And think how many more lives could be saved, or children cared for if you worked pro bono.D1B wrote:

You jest, but the Jesus character was all about making your own decision and either enjoying the benefits or suffering the consequences. There was nothing at all about you being forced to be charitable in this life.Yes...Jesus was clearly a libertarian!

BTW, I wonder why you don't hear many of the same people invoking what Jesus might think or do with respect to charity talk about what he might have to say about women electing to have their own progeny killed.

No, they walk the walk with their own resources. They don't spend their time trying to FORCE other people to walk it.Ah...so the really nice and truly sweet Christians that are admirable and walk the walk are actually suckers? Good to know.
It's really, really easy to just say "government will take care of it." Nothing particularly admirable about that.

We can argue over the degree of regulation till the cows come home. But in order for a market to be "free" or close to it and to meet society's needs in a "Christian" sort of way, doesn't it require at least some level of government "meddling"? Without SOME rules, you eventually have monopolies...oligarchies...and/or such. You have a small handful of winners. Without rules, how does the market correct that occurrence?
You know this, I know this, and the Pope knows this.

Every thing we know about this alleged person is at best third hand.
Somebody had a friend whose cousin's grandfather knew somebody that knew Jesus back in the day.

The fact of the historical existence of Jesus is accepted nearly universally by genuine historians.
Only internet "scholars" suggest Jesus never existed.
Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed,[1][2][3][4] and although there is little agreement on the historicity of gospel narratives and their theological assertions of his divinity,[5][6][7][8] biblical scholars and classical historians regard theories of his non-existence as effectively refuted.[9][10][11] Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Galilean Jew who was born between 7 and 2 BC and died 30–36 AD.[12][13][14] Most scholars hold that Jesus lived in Galilee and Judea, did not preach or study elsewhere[15][16][17] and that he spoke Aramaic and may have also spoken Hebrew and possibly Greek.[18][19][20] Although scholars differ on the reconstruction of the specific episodes of the life of Jesus, the two events whose historicity is subject to "almost universal assent" are that he was baptized by John the Baptist and shortly afterwards was crucified by the order of the Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate.[21][22][23][24]

No direct proof. Doesn't prove he didn't exist....but.... there are zero, as in none, first hand accounts of this guy. And a great deal of time and effort was spent officially proclaiming most of the third-hand-or-worse "gospels" to be false... while deciding that four of the third-hand-or-worse "gospels" were true. Sad part is that 'spandos could be missing the biggest cover-up of them all...
