What that tells ME is that the Reagan Campaign had back-channel dealings with the bloody Ayatollah about the timing of the release...SPECIFICALLY to make Carter look bad.

Carter at least TRIED something with HIS major crisis. Senile old Reagan just sat there with his thumb up his butt when HIS came along, letting a good man take the fall for his stupidity....

Interesting theory, but why would Reagan have tried to make Carter look bad on the day that he left office? What would Reagan have gained? Anyway, that view of the events of Jan. 1981 has always been popular among Democrats who don't want to admit that Carter was a spineless fuck who did nothing more than approve an ill-conceived rescue attempt by a military that he hollowed out.

Iran knew without a shred of doubt shit just got REAL when Reagan was inaugurated. That release date was no accident. And I highly doubt someone NOT in the Oval Office was negotiating with a terrorist group behind the Oval Office resident's back.

It still was a message, once Reagan was elected in November 1980 it was known that he would be inaugurated President. It's just a date on a calender. Besides, I thought the US didn't negotiate with terrorists? And if we're really going to give Reagan credit for the end of the hostage crisis, then you'll have to give Obama credit for the death of Osama. Because I definitely sure both parties involved had an equal amount of direct input on the matter. :coffee:

No, they just waited until they got IN to the oval office to make arms deals with Iran and remove Iraq from the list of state sponsors of terrorism

Reagan himself didn't necessarily have anything to do with it. Remember that he was the most senile president in history and that he had the most corrupt administration (right under his nose) up until that point. It didn't get worse until Clinton and Obama started orchestrating the corruption themselves. It all happened because Reagan was so senile....

Yup and there are help wanted ads everywhere in Charleston. Boeing is building so much that the loss of Caterpillar (~200 jobs) might be absorbed by those people transitioning to Boeing. Charleston needs workers.

Sweet Jesus you might want to stop digging. Reagan wasn't senile in 1980 you fucking moron. And sadly, his administration has proven to be no more or less corrupt than any that have come since. :dunce:

Grant and Harding were way more corrupt than Ronnie. Like AZ said, he wasn't senile in 1980. That came much later.

Btw, after Harding's sudden death (which some still think is a mystery) his wife returned to D.C. and destroyed/burned papers and documents.

Measuring the amount of corruption is tough because so much of it is legal. But I'm pretty sure Reagan is near if not at the top in # of indictments and criminal convictions.

Not saying you're wrong, but a source would go a long way to back up your "pretty sure" feeling.
