You probably saw right after the race that Logano said in reference to Hamlin wrecking, ""He probably shouldn't have done what he did last week, so that's what he gets."
Although at that point, he didn't know Hamlin was hurt that bad.

Logano has now had feuds with Harvivck, Hamlin, Stewart, and probably others. Logano better watch his back...

All this is good for NASCAR ratings....

And the caution flag is out at Richmond.

Apparently somebody forgot to turn the timer off on the sprinkler system.

Why was that? Water on the track shouldn't cause any issues...

But what about the pit guys getting into it after the Busch race and getting arrested. I heard there was a kick to the nuts by someone.

*BREAKING*

Danica Patrick passed Denny Hamlin in the point standings on Saturday.

Granted, Hamlin broke his back in a crash five races ago and has missed the last four starts, but Danica is now ahead of him, so this is a great achievement for women.

Make no mistake. A woman can drive a car as good as any man who has a broken back and cannot compete for over a month.

Not sure what this "news" has to do with the actual NASCAR discussion :?

NASCAR been dropping the hammer with fines & suspensions 3 and 2 races ago. Not this past weekend.

Week before last NASCAR dropped the hammer on Penske:

"Penske appeal to be heard May 1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Penske Racing's appeal of penalties issued to reigning Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano will be held on May 1.

The appeal will be heard by three members selected from the National Stock Car Racing Commission.

Keselowski and Logano were docked 25 points each when NASCAR confiscated what were deemed unapproved rear end housing parts during inspection before the April 13 Texas race.

Their crew chiefs, car chiefs and head engineers -- as well as competition director Travis Geisler -- were suspended for six points races and the May 18 All-Star race.

The crew chiefs also were fined $100,000 each.

The suspensions were put on hold pending the outcome of the appeal, which means the crews for both drivers will be intact for Saturday night's race at Richmond International Raceway as they were on Sunday at Kansas Speedway.

If the panel stands by NASCAR's ruling, Penske Racing has the option to go to the final appeal stage in which chief appellate officer John Middlebrook makes the ruling after hearing from both sides.

NASCAR has referred to the confiscated parts as unapproved because they were altered to move in a way that officials have told teams was off-limits.

Penske Racing says the parts were approved and will argue that the organization simply was working in a gray area that other teams have explored. Team officials also believe the penalties were too stiff for parts that were never used in a race.

"It's a reach based on alleged infractions that I saw,'' Walt Czarnecki, the vice chairman of Penske Racing, told ESPN.com. "I haven't heard NASCAR's rationale as to why.''

Logano said during a Tuesday during a press event promoting the May 18 All-Star race and May 26 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway the teams are in the preliminary stages for preparing for what will happen if the suspensions stand.

"We need to prepare for the worst and hope for the best,'' he said. "We'll bring in some extra people [at Richmond] to have some overlap on our team to prepare if the appeal doesn't go the way we expect it to. We need to always do that.

"Penske racing has a lot of depth in the company. They're very strong. We'll get through this.''

Logano fell from ninth in points to 14th after the penalty. He fell to 20th after a hard crash on Sunday at Kansas left him with a 39th-place finish.

Keselowski finished sixth at Kansas to move from fourth to third in the standings.

"The teams are really dealing with it well,'' Logano said. "They understand that we want to win races and push as hard as we can to win races. Everyone's been really supportive of Penske Racing from the top to bottom.

"I'm glad to see that and no one rolling over and wanting to push harder and still wanting those wins. That's what makes a strong organization in my eyes.''"
http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/st ... no-heard-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This past week they dropped the hammer on Kenseth and JGR:

"Latest on Matt Kenseth, Joe Gibbs penalties

Following his victory in the STP 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway, the engine in Matt Kenseth's car was found to have a connecting rod lighter than the minimum weight specified in the rule book, and the result was an avalanche of NASCAR penalties -- including 50 points docked from the driver, a six-week suspension and $200,000 fine levied against the crew chief, and the owner's license frozen for six weeks.
As this story continues to unfold and appeal hearings are heard, be sure to check back for the latest coverage from NASCAR.com.

Appeal date set

Joe Gibbs Racing will present its case to a three-member panel at the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, N.C., on May 8. Gibbs has said his organization will argue that the penalties levied for a failed post-race inspection were too harsh."

I bet JGR penalty is reduced and Penske stays the same. Gibbs' penalty was too harsh.

Yep on JGR, announced today:

"Joe Gibbs Racing team wins NASCAR penalty reduction

.........The three-member National Stock Car Racing Commission appeals panel stripped many of the most severe elements of the penalty to Matt Kenseth's team, including a reduction in points (50 to 12) and in the suspension for crew chief Jason Ratcliff (six races to one).

In addition, Kenseth's Kansas victory now will count toward Chase contention and Gibbs will be able to collect owner points for the next six races (he would have been banned from doing so had the penalty stood). The driver moves from 11th to fourth in the point standings.

Meanwhile, the appeals panel -- Dover President Denis McGlynn, Stafford Motor Speedway track operator Mark Arute and former team owner Jack Housby -- increased the penalty for manufacturer Toyota (from five to seven)..........."

Wrong on Penske- they did get a slight reduction:

"Penske suspensions reduced by four races on appeal

CONCORD, N.C. — Penske Racing won a slight victory Tuesday in its final appeal of penalties to its two Sprint Cup teams, as National Stock Car Racing Chief Appellate Officer John Middlebrook reduced seven team members' suspensions from six to two races.

Middlebrook left intact the points penalties and fines to the teams of defending series champion Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano. But now the key crewmen from the Nos. 2 and 22 will miss only Saturday's Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 26 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. They also will be absent from the Sprint All-Star Race, an exhibition held on May 18 at Charlotte, but can return for the June 2 race at Dover International Speedway.

Team owner Roger Penske said he was very happy with Middlebrook's decision.........."

Points are all that really matters. I figured they'd reduce the point penalties on JGR and make no change to Penske and that's exactly what happened. I guarantee the teams will find a way to get the money back to the crew members in some way.
