UCLA Safety Tevin McDonald transfers to EWU

“They’ve been very welcoming and understanding of my situation,” McDonald said. “I just want to make this coaching staff know that I’m putting this behind me and I’m looking to make the most of it.”

McDonald was dismissed from the UCLA team on March 26. Under UCLA policy, a player loses his scholarship after a fourth positive test.

“Probably in his mind this is the last chance, and … that may be what he needs,” said Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin, who emphasized that the decision to accept McDonald was done after contacting his high school coaches as well as members of the UCLA staff.

I would have liked to get him, as our safety play was horrible last year, but with the scrutiny this staff is under there's no way they were going to go for it.

That, and I don't think UM's culture of "thuggery" would've been conducive for Tevin staying on the straight and narrow.

After 4 failed tests it's pretty damn clear he has zero fucks to give about staying on the straight and narrow...clearly pretty good at fooling coaches into thinking he does though apparently

Yeah, but now he has no choice. He's on his last chance to play D-I football, or possibly football at all for that matter. For someone with NFL talent/aspirations, that's a pretty big motivator.

I can't remember his name, but I remember a transfer from somewhere like Nebraska or Oklahoma who turned out to be a real troublemaker in Missoula; alkie and things like that. His antics were big news on eGriz at the time, but I think he's slid under the radar in the years since.

I would take TEN of him for our O-line all day long. He had a nasty streak that you need in O-lineman. His transgressions were minor blips....

The best thing about Quinn was when the JMU guys were standing over Bergquist and he came storming in and about shoved a D lineman on his ass so Bergquist could get up. Then as they were in the huddle, he reached his hand up to his helmet and nonchalantly gave him the finger! He was mean as hell when it came to protecting the QB.

I understand why you think that, he pushed at your school. The fear of a suspension didn't stop him. The fear of getting kicked off of the UCLA team want enough to stop him. You honestly think he gives a flying fuck ant ewu? He had a good year thus far he is gone to the nfl. He is using ewu to fuck the system. You think in a state that it's legal to smoke pot he is just going to stop because he might not be able to play at a school he didn't give two shits admit other than the fact they took his sorry ass after getting booted from anther school?

Chances are he fails at least one test at ewu...whether or not they report it is another thing
