Pending he stays out of trouble, that's going to make an already good EWU secondary into a potent one. Granted I do have my reservations about him staying away from bud in this state.McDonald is enrolled in classes and will begin practicing with the team as early as Thursday. The son of six-time NFL All-Pro safety Tim McDonald, he was recently dismissed from UCLA’s squad for violating team policy.
Tevin McDonald had 135 tackles in 27 career games at UCLA, plus four interceptions and 14 passes broken up. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Fresno, Calif., had 79 tackles as a sophomore in 2012. His brother, T.J., was a senior All-America safety at USC in the 2012 season.
“After consultation with many people and having a long discussion with Tevin, we’ve determined that he deserves the opportunity to continue his collegiate career,” said Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin. “We have high expectations of him off the field, in the classroom and on the field.”
McDonald’s father, Tim McDonald, is currently the defensive backs coach for the New York Jets, and one of his players is former Eagle Isaiah Trufant (2002-05). Tim McDonald played 13 years in the NFL, including 1993-99 for the San Francisco 49ers, which won Super Bowl XXIX. Most recently he spent one season on the coaching staff at Fresno State, and before that was head coach at his alma mater, Edison High School in Fresno.

I hope your luck with drop-downs is better than Montana's. You did well with a couple of outstanding quarterbacks, though.

Hopefully he can stay focused and contribute to the team. Good pick up if he can do that.

NCAA shouldn't care about pot in places where it's legalized. It's not performance enhancing and it's not illegal... so wtf should anyone care?

You're talking about the same organization that would not allow the University of Louisville to fly its champion men's basketball team to support its women in the championship the following day.Skjellyfetti wrote:NCAA shouldn't care about pot in places where it's legalized. The did grant them a waiver....hours after they had made plans to return to campus and started that journey home....so it was already paid for.93henfan wrote:You're talking about the same organization that would not allow the University of Louisville to fly its champion men's basketball team to support its women in the championship the following day.Skjellyfetti wrote:NCAA shouldn't care about pot in places where it's legalized. It was their way of making it look like the men's team did have the option but turned it down

Exactly. And even with the waiver, they were going to make the kids buy their own game tickets.clenz wrote:The did grant them a waiver....hours after they had made plans to return to campus and started that journey home....so it was already paid for.93henfan wrote:

Not legal in all states the ncaa gotta with a universal rule.
Private organization, they make the rules didn't matter if the substance is legal in the state.
Facial hair is legal, but my company outlawed it...

Re: UCLA Safety Tevin McDonald transfers to EWU
Good point, 93. The NCAA has NEVER been logical. I still remember an incident where they allowed a UCONN women's hoopster to do what amounted to a video blog on national TV (done in such a way that the NCAA got the cred for it), while around the same time they refused permission for a Northwestern football player (a theater major) to go to Italy to take part in a movie in which he had NO lines, and would only collect per diem. Idiots!93henfan wrote:You're talking about the same organization that would not allow the University of Louisville to fly its champion men's basketball team to support its women in the championship the following day.Skjellyfetti wrote:NCAA shouldn't care about pot in places where it's legalized. I can't remember his name, but I remember a transfer from somewhere like Nebraska or Oklahoma who turned out to be a real troublemaker in Missoula; alkie and things like that. His antics were big news on eGriz at the time, but I think he's slid under the radar in the years since.AZGrizFan wrote:Who the [bleep] are you talking about?SuperHornet wrote:

I would take TEN of him for our O-line all day long. He had a nasty streak that you need in O-lineman. His transgressions were minor blips....SuperHornet wrote:I can't remember his name, but I remember a transfer from somewhere like Nebraska or Oklahoma who turned out to be a real troublemaker in Missoula; alkie and things like that. If I remember correctly, his "nasty streak" showed opposing players, on more than one occasion, that NO ONE disrespects his QB!AZGrizFan wrote:I would take TEN of him for our O-line all day long. So another NFL bound player joins EWU football. What else is new?

Are you referring to Quinn? A DUI is a minor blip?AZGrizFan wrote:I would take TEN of him for our O-line all day long. He had a nasty streak that you need in O-lineman. His transgressions were minor blips....SuperHornet wrote:

Well, which end of the scale would you put it closer to? Minor blip? or "real troublemaker"?Beardown wrote:Are you referring to Quinn? A DUI is a minor blip?AZGrizFan wrote:

Based on the most recent time he made the news I would tend to say it leans closer to hero.

Heard he tried UM and Delaney said no (understandably).
Good pickup for EWU, though. Should be a baller.

A real troublemaker. Didn't he get in trouble at Oklahoma as well? Isn't that why he transferred? If you're okay with DUI's I guess that's your issue, not mine.AZGrizFan wrote:Well, which end of the scale would you put it closer to? Minor blip? or "real troublemaker"?Beardown wrote:
