I am asking for scientific honesty. Have I seen that? I am in a win win situation, so it is VERY interesting to see the defense.

I assume that the main difference is that Darwinist's don't attribute evolution to a superior being, whereas intelligent design advocates do. It's a dumb argument. If you believe in God then of course you are going to believe that He has a hand in the way things are. Perhaps He set up the rules by which evolution takes place.
The rules of evolution are what they are, whether you believe in God or not.

Yet, if I'm not mistaken, the Discovery Institute, Stephen Meyer and other IDers use and abuse the Watchmaker Analogy; the suggestion that God is a tinker. How can you possibly reconcile poor design, IDer = Evolutionist and God as tinkerer?

Clearly you're struggling with this issue; I think you're better off "believing" God set the stage for life at the Big Bang and later "breathed" a soul into Homo sapiens. Even ardent evolutionists have little challenge for the unknowable and unprovable except for atheist-physicists like Lawrence Krauss.
