Yes. But your story was spontaneous abortion, not intentional.kalm wrote:Semantics. Does life begin at conception? If so, the mother is liable for all of her actions from that moment on.89Hen wrote: Soft what? Your #1 point was that somebody said fetus = infant. That's what is soft.

I'm not, my kids are, seeing how they were conceived miraculously without my involvement. Anakin was apparently conceived without a father as well, according to his mother Shmi, and was described as being brought into existence by the mitochloriones, the microscopic organisms that allow people to use the Force. Of course, since the Star War prequels are widely seen as a disaster of storytelling, especially the first movie, by George Lucas, take it for what it's worth.Ibanez wrote:How are you on Skywalker's level?GannonFan wrote:

Pull out moron.grizzaholic wrote:Perhaps I didn't post correctly. I know quite a few people who are religious and it is not allowed to use protection during sex. The only way they can have sex, due to religious beliefs, is to use the old hope and pray you counted your days correctly from period to period.
To me, that seems ludicrous.
And I didn't say that is a reason to have an abortion.

I'm guessing GF was a teenager in a more religious household than you. That said, NONE of my stance on abortion has anything to do with religion.grizzaholic wrote:And you were never a teenager...especially one that lives in a household with religious parents?
EDIT: You win. Abortion should be illegal and if you administer one you will be hung by your ankles and beaten with baseball bats, if you receive one you will be stoned to death.

Re: Kudos to North Dakota
I understand your point completely. I also understand the other side and it leaves me conflicted. It isn't an easy "this is their body they can do what they want with it" or "it's murder and should be outlawed except when the mother's life is in danger" argument. You're dealing with conceptual questions about when life begins that I'm not qualified to answer and my gut feel is to ask: is this something I want to be wrong about? The answer to that is no. Then I have to admit that my answer applies to me personally and then ask: can and should I ask or (legislatively/legally) force that same answer on others? That one I can't answer as confidently.89Hen wrote:I've admitted that many times. And for the record, I apply the "is this something I want to be wrong about?" question to climate change as well and believe that we need to do something about man's impact on the environment.

Once a person knows they are pregnant, then they will have the ultimate duty to that child to bring it into the world in the best of health. Father and mother.
Yup...let's really get into protecting these little, helpless buggers.
Father yelling at a pregnant mother? Jail time for abusing the unborn infant. Father coming home late from work? Jail time for causing stress to the unborn baby.
Any naturally aborted babies will need a thorough investigation to make sure the parents did not have anything to do with the death of the baby.
The father and mother should be held for trial to make sure that they were doing everything in their power to carry the child to birth in only the healtiest way. Fathers should also be able to be held and tried for child neglect if they aren't always around helping out during pregnancy.
Surely, if parents can be held accountable for their actions AFTER a child is born, then we need to hold them accountable for their actions BEFORE a child is born.
In fact, if the father is not the healthiest of people, and the baby dies in the womb, then he should be tried for PREMEDITATED murder. After all...if his sperm was damaged by riding bikes, drinking, or anything else within his power, and he had sex and got someone pregnant, then the father is guilty of helping kill his weakened fetus/infant.
From now on, boys should be taught they have a choice. Live the healthiest of lives or do not have sex. Otherwise, you will be held to account for any aborted lives that might result from you having sex.
